I have neither started nor maintained a thread for football commercials in the past...
Not me. Boring..
I agree. Some mediocre ones and that one very bad gay commercial. Nothing memorable and a very bad year. The worst thing was that the Indy Irsays won. Thanks Chicago! What a pathetic, limp-wristed effort from your Bears.
The mud-made dalmation was my favorite too. When that poor pup was shunned two different times, he looked so sad and forlorn! Corny ad, no electronics, no slapstick, no sex, no one famous. Just a sweet commercial.
Well, you might notice I said smile, not LOL.
Awww! I just looked up the commercial. Got a little teary. Looks like my Labrador mix.
Why were guys removing their clothes? In broad daylight, in a busy intersection, in front of four women in a car?
Was this like a woman's version of a topless car wash? Were the men in love with the car so they removed their shirts (is that what men do when they're in love)? Were they trying to make money by stripping? Were they driven insane by such a beautiful car?
Seriously. I do not understand what was going on.
It was a reverse on roles. Normally you see sexy women in underclothes writhing over a car in soapsuds to the enjoyment of the men inside. In this case, you have a variety of men, some sexy, some not, but ALL thinking they are the sexy hotness writhing over a car in hopes of turning on the women inside. It, uhm, didn't work, especially if you are about 80 with arms the size of toothpicks. However, it was funny. At least I thought it was funny.
I vote for that one too.
I think the "mud-made dalmation" was a pitt mix. He looked a little pitt-ish in the face. If anyone knows anywhere to look that up it would be interesting to find out.
Honorable mention to the Coke commercial where the guy from Grand Theft Auto goes around helping people. That one premiered a few weeks ago or I think we'd be hearing a lot more talk about it.
That commercial (Snickers) ruined the first quarter of the game for me. It also didn't help that my wife was singing "Kiss" because she knew Prince was coming on at half time. That's the last Snicker bar I eat in a long time.
It was "lame", in a way. Just like last year. A few cute commercials, etc, but lots that seemed "normal".
Which in many ways I'm grateful for the trend. Seems stupid how so many would go over the top for this 1 day. Stupid marketing, especially when they'd forget to really plug the product and you ONLY remember the story-line of the commercial - not the product. Also some were trying so hard - that's all it looked like. Too much artificial garbage.
Maybe they've finally figured out that it ain't worth the $$$ and the bottom is falling out of the Super Bowl for endorsements.
Too bad I don't remember the product that was being sold though.
The dog looks like a "pit-bull"/English Setter mix. First thing I thought was English Setter.
I liked that commercial, but not enough to be truly memorable. After all, how did he get on the beer carriage suddenly? I thought there was going to be something where the people felt sorry for him and took him in and put him in for the next parade or something!
English Setter/"pit bull".
Mostly crappy ads this year. Were we supposed to feel sorry for a GM assembly-line robot when they have been laying off thousands of HUMANS? Gay Snickers ad was lame. My fave was low-tech and old-school funny - Carlos Mencia "teaching the foreigners". Sort of politically incorrect which I liked!
My husband said the "restaurant-workers association" or whatever was up in arms over that Federline ad. How dare they indicate that working at McD's is a low-life job!?
The Heart Ad would have been funnier had they used a real human heart.
