You're a big silly.
I take it you actually have no idea about what Massachusetts law really provided (people paid parish taxes, not state taxes, directly to their parish church, not the state).
Or maybe you're too silly to admit that this isn't state taxation of religion, much less five states using taxation to support religion.

You're cornered!
I like Newt but I think he's unelectable in either spot. Make him Rudy's Karl Rove -- that's where Newt can shine: the idea guy and the guy who can help translate things into political nuggets.
As for Rudy: he's clearly the most able "leader" in the field. He's proven his leadership ability in the massive turnaround of NYC and then the personal fortitude and bravery around 9-11. Imagine a president who could give a press conference every day without worry that he'll screw it up or flub a talking point.
While I would never ever ever "hope" for this: with the Dems swinging to retreat, imagine if there is another terrorist attack on our soil between now and election 2008. Shrillery and the rest would be up the creek without a paddle -- and people would be begging for a strong leader to take over the leadership RESPONSILITIES on the War on Terror that has the Dems so terrified at the prospect.
.. OH! .. I don't mention him in certain circles , I've been derided from both sides
.. , I've been here through Koch , Dinkins {{OMG!!!} , and R*d* [ see , not mentioning him ]
I'd have to say his Achilles' heel is getting baited into quarrels that make him appear willing to jump into something FEET FIRST on the advice of someone he probably trusts ,..
but that person/group could easily be given the old "yes , I'm looking into that"
case in point: the Virgin Mary elephant dung painting by Chris Ofili made R*d* look silly , the painting was gorgeous { yes , I got right up close , in the gallery } and if he had more astute counsel , he wouldn't have stepped in that SH*T , and then tracked it all over the place
We are going to learn a lot about Bernie Kerrick in the coming months...
People don't vote for the VP....but Newt on the ticket..especially if Rudy announces well before the convention that he ask asked Newt, and Newt has accepted, will energize the social conservative base in the party.
RICK RESCORLA - - he was a real hero.
Yet, even there in New York City, not a word about the outright treason and security leaks coming from the news media by those who would have us believe Giuliani is a hero.
I'm with you all the way, in spades, except for this statement. Rockefeller was as far from Libertarian as one could get in the Republican party.

Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do it.
Rudy Giuliani
You are a broken record. LOL, enjoy yourself.
keep it up narses
Please be realistic
"That's what I'm worried about. Some Republicans like Rudy because of his charisma.
Besides being a liberal in just about every way, Rudy will NOT be strong on TERRORISM, because of his pro-ILLEGAL immigration stance:
"....But, as Michelle Malkin has revealed, under Giuliani, New York was an illegal alien sanctuary and "America's Mayor" actually sued the federal government in an effort to keep New York City employees from having to cooperate with the INS...."

If you run a liberal against a liberal, you will end up with a liberal."
~~~
Therefore, you're going to do what you did in 2006 and choose not to vote, thereby passively electing Hillary! What great principles you have!
You can keep your principles, I'll take mine.
"Therefore, you're going to do what you did in 2006 and choose not to vote, thereby passively electing Hillary! What great principles you have!
You can keep your principles, I'll take mine."
But I DID vote in 2006, not only in the general election, but in the PRIMARIES.
And I wrote letters to editors. Your way is easier, lie down and die and give up, but my principles say FIGHT for what you believe.
You can panic! and settle for a liberal, but I will continue to FIGHT for a CONSERVATIVE and practice what I preach in my tagline.
Guiliani is not, and never will be a conservative. We had best get out and vote in the primaries if we don't want him or his ilk as President, or worse. Anyone who claims the right thing to do is sit out 2008 is worse than a fool.
I wouldn't vote for Rudy under any circumstances. Know why? Because with a liberal Dem in the White House, you at least have a teeth-bared, aggressive opposition party to limit his (or her) power --- but with a liberal Republican, there's no opposition party at all.
I must say I agree with your assessment of Guiliani. He is and remains a "statist"-pretty much like NY's previous mayors. The fact he is a Republican is almost incidental.
He has also been "tarnished" to some degree by the scandal surrounding his former Police Commissioner,Bernie Kerik: something the MSM would tear him apart on.His ex-wife would probably drool at the chance of saying something nasty about him as well...and would be a "first stop" for the MSM.
On the plus side, he's not Hillary. He is also more than equal to the Media ( one of the reasons they have always hated him) , and has a history of "treeing" reporters who get too far out of hand (Donald Rumsfield style).
George Will is pro-gun control and, IIRC, has argued for the repeal of the 2nd Amendment.
