" A doctor admitted yesterday in Superior Court in Middlesex County that he stole a hand from a medical-school cadaver in May 2002 that was later found in the home of an exotic dancer he had befriended.
The plea deal Ahmed Rashed, 26, reached with prosecutors calls for him to receive five years of probation, during which he is barred from seeking a license to practice medicine in New Jersey. Linda Kay, 31, who dances under the name "Zillah" at the Hott 22 in Union, is being admitted to a pretrial intervention program to resolve her charge of receiving stolen property, a prosecutor said yesterday. "
"When my client was a first-year medical student he took a hand from a fully-dissected cadaver that was ready for cremation. He was unaware it was a crime," Geist said. "Everybody understands that people do silly things when they're 22. He is now a resident in the emer gency room in one of the busiest inner-city hospitals.""

Can you imagine the 911 operator when she (or he) got THAT call.

At least no one asked for a little head.

Maybe he could swing a mean 2.5lb sledgehammer? Still not as effective as jumping in front of a passing train or putting a shotgun beneath the chin...

Hmmm... But you could make the argument that following the dissection of a cadaver, the parts become medical waste. Would medical waste be considered to be 'property'? IANAL, but yes. And there are pretty strict laws governing the disposal of both medical waste and human remains.

Actually, a corpse IS property, but I'm damned if I can find the article I read that discusses the details. In Miami about 20 years ago, two Columbian cocaine smugglers were stopped by police for reckless driving. The PD subsequently opened the trunk to the Audi and found a dead body. Since Florida had no laws regarding the transport of dead bodies, there was no violation regarding the dead body! (Who was never identified, BTW).
I guess it was their "property".

Now there's a *real* romantic for ya ... __________________________________________________________
This must be why I never had much luck with 31 year old New Jersey Strippers. I offered wine, flowers, long walks on the beach, $20 bills...
I didn't know they wanted severed hands. I had better make a note to myself about this. After all; Valentines Day is coming... Learn to cater to their whims, Mr. Romantic Bear. You might want to begin by presenting your love interest with a clean human skull.
According to the article, this chick had 6 of them, ordered legally via mail order catalogs. (Wow, we sell *everything* in this country!)
