Nutrition 21 says product suppresses HIV progression

Jan 22 (Reuters) - Nutrition 21 Inc. (NXXI.O: Quote, Profile , Research) said its high selenium yeast product Selenomax suppressed progression of human immunodeficiency virus and improved immune cell counts in HIV-1 positive men and women.

In a statement, the bioscience company said the findings from a study conducted by researchers at the University of Miami were significant because suppressing viral loads could decrease the likelihood of developing complication of HIV disease. (Reporting by Sweta Singh in Bangalore)
