Thanks. I don't live in Houston anymore...moved to a rural area of Southern Alabama.
I expect this article could be written about any major city in the US, just change the airport names.

Taking an aircraft out for a "joyride" is a little harder than is being represented. You have to do a proper pre-flight to make sure it's in good shape. It needs to be fueled and the fuel checked. All of the aircraft I've flown have keys to the door. Taking off from a small field with no active tower or ground control requires knowledge of the unicom frequency to advise other pilots in the pattern and on the ground of your intentions. It's a good idea to check the ATIS for wind speed, direction and barometric pressure to ensure your altimeter is correct. My average prep time to take a Cessna 150 out was about 1 hour from the time I parked my car at the FBO.
