Taking an aircraft out for a "joyride" is a little harder than is being represented. You have to do a proper pre-flight to make sure it's in good shape. It needs to be fueled and the fuel checked. All of the aircraft I've flown have keys to the door. Taking off from a small field with no active tower or ground control requires knowledge of the unicom frequency to advise other pilots in the pattern and on the ground of your intentions. It's a good idea to check the ATIS for wind speed, direction and barometric pressure to ensure your altimeter is correct. My average prep time to take a Cessna 150 out was about 1 hour from the time I parked my car at the FBO.

The preflight inspection is less than 5 minutes. If local I would start the engine and go. If on a cross country I would get my clearance from the tower and go. Unless there was a lot of traffic from the time I started the engine or engines I would normally be in the air within ten minutes.
