This is outrageous. A sitting Senator and POTUS candidate has gone out and said that she wants to outright take money from private companies and use it for government initiatives.

"A sitting Senator and POTUS candidate has gone out and said that she wants to outright take money from private companies and use it for government initiatives."
And most people I come in contact with on a daily basis think she's right to say so. These are strange times.

Why not invest some of the goverment treasury in Exxon/Mobil and take part in realizing "obscene profits"? (cattle futures suddenly come to mind, but I digress). Oh, of course, Uncle Sam would also have to absorb the losses in down years, eh comrade Hillary?

Maybe we need to retroactively tax short term investments a lot higher--say as in cattle futures.

From the 2005 annual report:
Excise taxes: $30.742 billion
Other taxes and duties: $41.554 billion
Income taxes: $23.302 billion
Total from just those three lines of taxes: $95.598 billion
vs
Net Income: $36.130 billion
So, in 2005 taxes were nearly three times the net profit. How much more does that Stalinist want?
