LADY LAKE, Florida (CNN) -- Deadly storms swept across central Florida on Friday morning, damaging homes, toppling trees and sending trucks careening off Interstate 4, police said.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office said there were "several" fatalities in Lady Lake, where at least two mobile home parks were hit. Authorities could not say how many deaths there were.

Tornado warning to expire momentarily and the worst stuff is going offshore. Not to say more won't boil up but at least it's time to breathe again.

My point exactly. Living in the Mid West and having seen many tornadoes over the years, when they go after you, structure does not matter. They hop skip and jump, they are very indiscriminate.

I'm waiting for all the DemoSocialist presidential hopefuls to come down here to "inspect the damage" and tell us it wouldn't have happened if a DemoSocialist was in the White House. Here comes Hillary now, flying in on her broom!

I received, along with others on his list, an email from a friend last week saying that he and his wife were going to Florida for two months....so stop all emails, jokes, etc. I wrote and asked what part of Florida. I thought he said south of Orlando. Naturally, I was concerned and praying after hearing this morning's news.

So I sent an email to everyone on his list, and just received this answer from his friend:

"He's in the area of Lady Lake, Lake Weir. I talked to him this morning and they are okay, no damage where they are. All around them the roads are closed because of damage so they will have to stay put for several days."

My house is rated at 180 MPH and it held fine during Charley except for all the trees, the roof tiles, and some other damage. My shelter is rated for a 15 cm sFH 18.

In any case I see no excuse for not being prepared beyond having the FEMA 800 number.

Ah, but are you also prepared for all the good old boys in the area who will find you and your supplies afterwards? That is my biggest concern.

Governor will be at a news conference in 8 or 9 minutes, per Fox.

It will be hard to see Charlie Crist and not Jeb Bush. I hope Charlie is up to the task.

The Villages home sales have dropped in a big way (from 400 new homes per month to 260 month). What used to be affordable is now out of range for many retirees.

Home folks are ok down there.

I am sure they will be there next week...but they are having their retreat this weekend...so they can't possibly come down now.

If you talk to your sister can you ask her if she knows if the major destruction in Lady Lakes includes Bishop Drive? That's where one couple who are friends live.

Also, the couple in the Villages live not too far from the main entrance, where the little downtown area is.

Our friends who live in Lady Lakes moved there a few years ago to be close to the ones who live in the Villages. We visited both couples there a few years ago.

Of course we can't find out anything about either couple, so any info you can provide would be appreciated.

You referred to the tornado last month at Embry-R. They lost a lot of hardware on the tarmac. Have you heard anything this AM how they made out with this storm? The worst seems to have passed south of 'em through New Smyrna but planes are awfully easy to toss.

This is unbelievably horrible. It just never ends for that part of FL.

Believe me the good-old-boys don't need my supplies. Some of em are my friends and they are completely comfortable on the land. In fact I'd probably be eatings some nice fresh manatee steaks (the other white meat).

Housing prices HAVE to go up in Florida. The people coming down are clueless and you have to build more secure structures. All these mobiles and cheap snowbird housing needs to go. Of course you can buy a smaller house on less land than you can afford and put the savings into safety gear. Despite what some ignorant people say you can prepare and dramatically reduce the damage and improve survivability. I got a direct hit from Charley and the well built homes held up and the cheapies got destroyed.

Florida really has a shockingly large number of tornadoes....

Worse we're the lightning strike capital of the world. The next time you hear somebody say that the odds that you will be the victim of a shark attack are about the same odds that you will be struck by lightning, remember that in Florida, you're ELEVEN times more likely to be struck by lightning than any other place in the nation. Feeling lucky? Go for a wade in the shallows with a cut foot and carry a metal rod over your head on a cloudy day. Better yet, buy a lottery ticket.
