LADY LAKE, Florida (CNN) -- Deadly storms swept across central Florida on Friday morning, damaging homes, toppling trees and sending trucks careening off Interstate 4, police said.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office said there were "several" fatalities in Lady Lake, where at least two mobile home parks were hit. Authorities could not say how many deaths there were.

Bomb sniffing dogs just detected bomb materials in a White House Conference room. Sure it's nothing, but WTH?

Back in the day we had ag control stations on the boarder. I'm for putting them back up and instead of confiscating fruit we hand out brochures.

While we normally have great weather be assured from time to time Florida is hit by hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning, killer bees, flooding and brush fires. While these are dangerous if you are not prepared, if you are prepared you will be fine."

Thank God. Glad she is safe. We are still trying to find news of our friends in Lady Lake and the Villages (two different retired couples).

How about FNC giving shelter locations! egads.
If FNC reported an elephant landed in my yard I'd not bother to look out the window.

Sadly, FRiend, none of that can guarantee you live through an F5 tornado. Remember the scenes from Norman, OK after the F5 went through there? Nothing left, in some cases not even the slab.
You are smart to have a storm shelter, but even the best laid plans can go awry at 4am.

I considered moving to that area this summer. Ironically, when I went out last night, it was a gorgeous full moon night. Now this.
Note. These people who are wiped out have no homeowners insurance, at all. You just cannot buy it for mobie homes. And, those living on ave social Security benefits (1,000/mo) cannot afford the new homes being constructed at high prices. So, a lot moved out of state, after the last hurricane. FEMA will compensate the low income, but I saw new manufactured homes torn apart and blown to the winds in Okochobee.
Mobile homes meet the needs of millions of retirees throughout the state. We don't need our nannies outlawing them. Almost everyone who slept in a mobile last night is fine, today.

The worst of the weather appears to be on the east coast now - a tornado watch block from about Palm Bay south to say, Sebastian. Though there are some heavy storms moving through central Polk County. The main line of storms over here appears to be well south of Lakeland now, in Hardee and DeSoto Counties. On the west coast, the main line appears to just be entering Charlotte County, near Englewood. I'd say your folks in Cape Coral have a few hours yet before the main line goes through their area.

I agree... parts hit by tonrado look terrible. I hope the best for all of our friends to the east. Strange weather... we have having our 4th snow storm this season right now in West Texas. We never have snow, much less 4 different snows in one year................
ELNINO is well at work. I do predict a lot of very bad storms for the next several months.......

They are completely clueless on science and geography. That's the way it is now because science and geography isn't taught in schools anymore; I noticed it during Katrina; these new reporters are really dumb and have no historical reference for ANYTHING.
