LADY LAKE, Florida (CNN) -- Deadly storms swept across central Florida on Friday morning, damaging homes, toppling trees and sending trucks careening off Interstate 4, police said.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office said there were "several" fatalities in Lady Lake, where at least two mobile home parks were hit. Authorities could not say how many deaths there were.

I just spoke to my mother in Winter Haven. The storms missed them, thank goodness.

Just heard an interview on Fox with a resident that suffered damage and he blamed it all on politicians and global warming. This in in Volusia County, one of the three counties involved in the 2000 recount. Go figure.

Recent news about the villages reported an uptick in VD among sexually active seniors. Won't be long before some preacher proclaims that this tornado is God's wrath for all that fornication.

There is a red/green paring on the storm velocity loop in Indian River County, about 30 miles south of where the current tornado is tracking.

Knock wood. The storms and damage stayed north and east of us here in the Lakeland area. We got heavy rain and some wind. The storms have passed and it just breezy and no rain...right now.

When we get tornado type storms here, which happens a lot...the electricity usually goes out, even if we aren't getting damage.
Prayers that they just don't have a way to get ahold of you...

How in the world can you live in Florida not prepare for this. I mean really. When I built my house I cut back on EVERYTHING to get extra elevation and a one room with no windows made out of 8 inch thick poured reinforced concrete walls, ceiling, floor and everything. It is stocked with flashlights, batteries, water, food, first aid kit and other supplies. I keep generators, chainsaw with extra blades, fuel, I have pumps for the canal and pool. We have a total emergency plan. We know how to fight fires in this family and do first aid. My neighbors are likewise mostly prepared I would skip meals a few times a week if that would be the only way I could afford this.
