So how far back does the Free Republic archive articles and how can I go back and find some of the first threads that started the whole thing off ?

It struck me I've hung out for a while and it was well established when I joined.

Be fun to see what we were focused on day one. For me anyway.

When I first joined, I found out from various FReepers before me that there was a bug on FR that if you didn't close your HTML tags, it would mess up the posts following it. So if you posted

The rest of the page had gigantic letters below.

I still have the threads saved that I was ready to post back to him on.

But he couldn't keep up too well. When his arguments couldn't hold water, he resorted to condescending personal attacks.
But him being a Priest and all, who am I to complain.

It took several Freepathons to afford the bigger servers and John Robinson's doing the upgrades.

Sinkspur lived very near me but we never met.

PMJI, my participation is somewhat sporadic, but it sounds as if I've missed something. Has something happened to Sinkspur? My last encounter with him was last summer.

I sounds like folks with web tv had problems.

In the beginning.....I upgraded to WebTv plus...what a nice tool that was.....Had cut and paste..Used to sit back in my easy chair and surf the net w/my kbd on my lap while watching TV. I would still have that thing, but unusable over here in S.Korea....!

I just laugh and laugh when I see people talking about how LONG the Freepathons take now............they know NOTHING!

WebTV never really took off here. It was available, but you had to incur long distance charges on top of your monthly access fee if you planned on using it. None of the national providers have a local phone number where I'm at, so the local phone company pretty much has a monopoly on this 3 county area.

Well Its been interesting learning more about some of my fellow Freepers and the History here at FR.

One of the things I love about this place is that much to my amazement I have met people who have become true flesh and blood FRiends.

I started lurking in 97, finally registered in 98. It's fun to go back to the old threads to check the old posters that are not around anymore. Some I know why they are gone, for the others it would be interesting to know what has happened them.
