Origins of Free Republic
Self
Posted on 01/31/2007 7:17:49 PM PST by festus
So how far back does the Free Republic archive articles and how can I go back and find some of the first threads that started the whole thing off ?
It struck me I've hung out for a while and it was well established when I joined.
Be fun to see what we were focused on day one. For me anyway.

I had other issues with the Deacon but he was a good adversary and a good friend here at FR.

Or RLK. Fiesty old cuss but he was brilliant. Made you examine your own beliefs. What he posted was no worse than what is being posted every day now.

There was a guy who posted for years... wonderful, intelligent posts. All I remember is that he was a black guy and a swimmer. He got hit hard in one thread and backed out.
Crap. I can't remember his name. I wish we could go through our old posts by date.

Maybe that contretemps was the reason, maybe not. Only one man knows for sure.

...not to mention the "Deacon" thing...That was over and done with and had been discussed to death.
Except for a few who wouldn't let it go; and on the religious forum, too. Quite telling.

Probably working privately through channels with the connected, might be more effective. Alas, I am probably about the most "unconnected" poster of all. :)

I was and am quite proud that I found some of the best sites right away!Yes, that makes the internet experience much more fun. There's a lot of good stuff out there, but a heck of a lot more dreck.

The Microsoft guy from Chicago?
To: jwalsh07
Yes, he most certainly was. He gave this site a zing, while I tend to put folks to sleep. :)

One of the first threads I ever posted here was,
"Monica knocked-up by DC Staffer while still blowing Bill.."
Don Morgan flagged me almost immediately with not just the violation of altering the title of an original article, he also gave me a ton of grief for the vulgarity I used...
About six posts later Jim Robinson admonished him and said, "but she was knocked-up by another DC staffer while she was still blowing Bill..."
lol, it was a much funnier place back then...
