Jan 31, 2007 About 98 percent of Harley's nearly 2,800 unionized workers have voted to strike. The contract expires at 12:01 a.m. Friday, and picketing will begin at that time, union representatives said.
Discussions on the proposed labor contract began at 9 a.m. today in the Toyota Arena at the York Expo Center, where the members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 175 met.
I spent 30 being very familiar with the Wagner Act and with RTW legislation in various states.
RTW is always the right to work for a hell of a lot less. It is championed by corporate America just as outsourcing to communist china, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Macau are championed by corporate America, as is the fight to keep illegal immigrants pouring into our labor force.
Nothing wrong with that. You should like your own ride better. If it were otherwise, it would be money ill spent. I love my bike. It's highly customized and exactly the way I like it. The seat is perfect, the handlebars are just right, the engine is tuned exactly where I like it. It's perfect...for me.
Hottie would never understand this, but I've reigned the engine in once. My first conversion was way too aggressive for my liking so later I put in milder cams and lower compression pistons
Go ahead and say it.
But Melas ride fits him and he enjoys it so I cannot argue with that.
What gets me is when the mouthbreathers say "Git a reel byk"
thats like someone in a 1955 chevy pickup telling someone in a 2006 Silverado to git a real truck.
I drive a Triumph Bonneville so I don't care :)
If workers want a stake in a company ~ they should buy stock in it.
I'm a retired Union member.
or like my friend who was driving a broke down, rusty s10 telling me to "get a real jeep" when i was driving any of my grand cherokees? :)
My opinion is that there's enough room for everyone -- and Hottie's right Melas -- us non-American bike owners have to put up with a lot of crap about not buying American. It truly swings both ways. Geez -- I sound like Rodney King. LOL!
Toyota Arena is funny place for Union members to hold a convention.
Toyota is a non-Union company. >:-}
I was born looking like this. I was never pretty.
Oh without a doubt. The same wannabe's can't tell you why they think a Harley is better. I too find that frustrating. I for one know that a Harley isn't the best ride for every rider. I have no problem with that at all. I do however know that it is the best ride for a great many riders. Unfortunately, many Japanese riders take great umbrage to that.
Hotdoggy! Unions and Harleys
Add tattoos and pittbulls to this thread and it could likely hit 1000 posts
Honda has been making cars and bikes in Marysville, Ohio for more than twenty years.
I never intended to imply you look like anything, just that i laugh at the wanna-be badasses, most of whom can't ride worth a damn.
I know. What is your point?
I will agree with you that some have. In fact, I wish some unions would dissolve because they fail to realize that their only purpose for existing is to represent their members, not become agents of social activism.
I've missed these bike threads ~ all everyone wants to do is argue about presidential candidates and the election isn't until November 2008. Sheesh.
That absolutely should get you. It's insulting. However, don't you see that's exactly the same as the mouthbreathers who tell me to get a real bike, because to them only sport bikes are real bikes?
I think it's funny how union bosses (who make $300,000 a year for doing NOTHING) manage to work the rank & file up toward hating management who make scarely more than the floor labor. Unions do a great job of creating an us versus them attitude, and destroy productivity and quality.
