I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.
Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.
Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.
Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?
Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?
Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?
Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?
Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.
\/\/ayne's great too. I wait to read his AAR's from Tucson.
Your position here most definitely more accurately articulates my position than my flippant post did. I think you are exactly right.

I am pinging folks (besides Kristinn, tgsltakoma and the usual DC stalwarts) who have expressed interest on this thread in organizing a Support-the-troops rally. Please contact Doctor Raoul via freepmail if you're serious. Even if you're not in the DC area maybe you all can exchange ideas. Maybe schedule simultaneous rallies throughout the country. (As the AmericaSupportsYou.mil webside encourages about the annual FreedomWalk on Patriot's Day.)
For what it's worth, I'm not interested in combining anything with any of the bike rallies, whether in Sturgis, Daytona, Laconia (sp?) or wherever. Besides the logistics of housing and transportation for non-motorcyclists, I don't think those rallies are the best family-oriented venue available.
I'm in Montana too and I would lose it if I saw that happen! How dare they do such disgusting things under the guise of free speech. You can bet if that happened to one of their lazy stupid a---- they'd be whining to some lawyer and try to sue! Go Griz!
See how it's done. One person or org. rents a tour bus and sells the seats. They probably recruit on college campuses. I've been thinking about this. If we form a counter-rally in March, every one of us can help even if we can't go. Do you realize how fast a joke goes around the world via e-mail? Let kristinn or someone good with words make up a flier announcing the rally and shaming/encouraging/inviting/whatever people to get off their butts and show up, and then we start e-mailing it to our intire address file and ask them to pass it on. Some will, some won't, but it is a great way to advertise.
Most of the buses are paid for by the riders. Most of the riders pay full fare as it were. Take the cost per seat and do the math and you'll get a number that I bet will be the cost of the bus rental.
There are some people that donate money towards a bus to either lower the cost, or pay for a seat for a volunteer. But that's not rampant.
Nor have a I seen meals or lodging provided free by the organizers. They post ride and lodging boards, but that's people networking. Before it became known that kristinn is a guy and not a girl, he had lots of request to take up the offer to sleep on the floor of his apartment back in 1998.
There would be nothing wrong with our side arranging buses. I forget the name of the guy who did it for the March For Justice in DC from Philly but it was a great thing he did. He made it convenient and cost effective to go. Nobody was bussed in. We need more people to do things like that.
There would be nothing wrong in us setting up bus transportation. Or car pools, or anything else that facilitates people's attendance.
Next time I want advice from a moron I'll go to a leftie rally and ask for it.
Kindly grow up.
Thanks for the ping, if there is something worthwhile going on, please let me know.
Thanks for inlcuding me in your ping:)
I respect your opinion regarding motorcycle rallys. I know its easy to only see the hype. with sturgis it really depends on what time of day wether its "family friendly" or not.
most of the wild folks and what not, dont come out until after dark. until then it is mostly couples and families having lunch, looking at bikes (like me). i love the sound of them, but scared to death to get on one, much to hubby's dismay.
i will give the housing though. perhaps its something local folks-wyo, southdakota and those already traveling to sturgis would be interested in doing.
i know alot of Freepers and vets ride out every year. support for our troops comes in all shapes and sizes. if we limit which conservatives we are willing to stand up for our troops with, we lose out.
anyways, thanks again!:)
Thanks to everyone who was able to make it. I'd rather have been there trying to make a difference than standing beside Karl's grave, and I think he'd say that was more productive, too. But sometimes duty calls, and we must do what is appointed.
You were right where you should have been, Pop.
I'm truly sorry there was such a poor turnout to be there to support those absolutely LOVELY and BEAUTIFUL service men and women who stood up against the antiwar protesters. Im honestly left with nothing to give in return but a heartfelt THANK YOU. But Ive been in FR long enough to know that too many of us dont have the luxury a lot of these leftists do (and not to mentione one or two moles who undermine the sincerely enthusiastic).
My best regards....
My pleasure POP. You and Mrs. POP have been in my thoughts!
Forgive me kristinn, I tried to get a ride. I couldn't even get to Philly to hook up with a ride. Let me know who comes down from NYC and I will get together with them. I wanted to stay from after the March for Life (bus), but my friend was in CA for their march and business meetings. I'm light in pocket but will go anywhere with a ride (of course i'll throw in gas money).
"You were right where you should have been, Pop."
You are probably right. Karl would have said "It smells like a$@ around here", or something equally off-the-wall :)
just an FYI
Joshua Sparling will be on Hannity & Colmes tonight to talk about what happened at the rally
Josh was shown and mentioned by name, some FReeper using a bull horn was shown bravely standing up against the hoard of thugs descending on them.
If we really want to have a bigger impact in March, we need to join with other conservative groups and bloggers.
These anti war groups have been organizing since before the Afghanistan war and as you know, there are many different groups marching under their anti american banner. They are also well funded by George Soros, et al.
Just a few thoughts anyway. Thanks to all who were able to attend and have heart.
God Bless Our Troops!!
you do NOT have the right to spit in the faces of our soldiers. If you have a beef with the war, take it up with the ones responsible for it, but leave the soldiers the alone. They dont declare wars, they fight them. They dont choose which countries theyre sent to, they just go there.
They go there so that you wont have to. They go there so that the enemies they fight there wont come fight HERE.
They go, and sometimes they dont come back with all of their limbs. Sometimes they dont come back at all.
To those of us who know what Honor, Duty and Country means, that means that you owe them at LEAST enough respect to refrain from spitting in their faces.
You dont have to love them, you dont have to say you support them (as a matter of fact wed appreciate it if you quit spreading that particularly obnoxious lie), but you DO have to treat them with a minimum of respect.
And if you dont, then some of us will be more than happy to teach you basic manners.
Teach you in ways that youre not likely to ever forget.
That is not a threat. That is a promise
Apology with first name. I'm impressed.
