Wounded Iraq Vet Threatened, Spat on by 'Antiwar' Protesters (D.C. Chapter Report on 1/27/07)
Sunday, January 28, 2007 | Kristinn

Posted on 01/28/2007 5:37:22 PM PST by kristinn

I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.

Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.

Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.

Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?

Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?

Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?

Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?

Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.

I have to disagree with you.

But i do think that we have to stop "counter protesting" the left. We should be proactive and initiating our own pro troops rallies. let the left have to counter us for once instead of dictating when we come out and show our support.

I think it would say alot more to our troops if we had our own pro troop rallys rather than simply show up to say we disagree with the anti war loons. it takes more effort and planning.

Not everybody there was there for the "antiwar" rally. It's like the Amish, you help me build my barn, I help you build yours. There was even an illegal alien group chanting slogans for their cause.

UFPJ likes to keep that under wraps, but it slips out sometimes. They'll ever try and mute the tremedous anti-semetism in the left.

ANSWER on the other hand sells their events as an antiwar rally, but once you're there they peak about every other commie cause from the stage. It's gotten so bag with ANSWER that the lefties themselves advise don't go to the rally, just march in the protest.

I freeped the white house with Dougfromupland and went to the freeper ball to! Where you at the first one, I was there with my then Marine son?

Has the Vietnam days taught us NOTHING!!??

It taught me that I should have stuck up for those vets back then. They got a raw deal they did not earn nor deserve. And if I have anything to do with it, history won't repeat itself no matter how hard the hippie freaks try.

I wasn't at either Freeper ball. I did the White House protests back in 1999.

Great job Spiff. Please let the others know I said so.

Those 1.5 hour drives seem a lot shorter when you have company and people should make every effort to carpool some of these because it's better with company.

I tend to agree with you but I am worried you could not get the kind of turnout desired as most folks who would agree with the troops are working, etc. We would not want to bus them in in an artificial show of support like the other side does.

I think dougfromuplands dedication is amazing.

Well, before I take any credit, I need to mention that I was talking about an event we did late last year. FReeper \/\/ayne did far more organizing than I did. But I sure was hell on wheels at the event. But you know me. I learned from the best. ;)

Depends on what we set up, for example post # 347 (i think) would get hundreds of thousands of ppl (and thats just the bikers)!

my husband goes each year and said he believes such a "ride" would get 90% or more turn out of the folks already there.

not to mention thousands more that would show up simply to show support for our troops in cars etc. maybe a ralley would be too much to plan for, but a ride would be fairly simple i would imagine.

we just need to think outside the box. go where the ppl already are, or plan something far enough in advance that ppl can take time off work.

hundreds of thousands showed up for the prolife march, took time of work and traveled far and wide to be there. why cant we do the same for out troops?

Thanks..

Yea, it was REALLY windy. In circumstances like that we normally would keep it in the bag.

"We would not want to bus them in in an artificial show of support like the other side does."

Exactly. This is what we have done all along. Nothing but real support at our largest rallies....but

if we really want to match the turn out of the leftists we may have to rethink that. They play dirty, but all the MSM sees is numbers.

ACK i didnt mean bus folks in, as in to get more bodies, but as an alternative means of transpo.

I dont like to drive much except around town and some might not want to put large amounts of mileage on thier car. i was thinking of it more in lines of a very LARGE carpool;)
