(CBS) NEW YORK -- After all the hinting hemming and hawing about whether they are really in the race Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani left no doubt in the minds of voters that they are serious about a presidential run in 2008.
"As a republican and I'm very, very optimistic that we're gonna turn this around and that we're gonna turn it around very, very quickly. Meaning this year, in time for 2008," said Giuliani-R , Former NYC Mayor at an engagement in New Hampshire.
And Senator Clinton confirmed her White House intentions in Iowa with her newly innovated slogan "I'm in it to win it."
"They're both in the race. Hillary has a much bigger organization set up. She's been raising money nationally longer," said political analyst Joseph Mercurio, about the man who was nicknamed America's Mayor after 9/11 and the senator who would be returning to the White House this time in the top job. "He's got a tremendous amount of name recognition nationally. He needs to set up a national organization before he's fully plunged into the race. But, undoubtedly he's running just as well as she is," he said.
So, what happens if it shakes out to be a Hillary versus Rudy battle for the white house in 08?
Mercurio says, "it would obviously good if one or the other of them won for New York City or the state how that plays in the rest of the country whether the New York image is a drag or not is a whole other conversation."
Not Dallas Cowboys - OSU Cowboys!
Those type of posts are the hysteric rants of a desperate individual. In recent months, many folks around here have gone from level headed FReeper, to a state of extreme emotion.
It's kind of scary. They are taking the wrong lessons from 2006 and compounding the core problems instead of addressing them.
I get so tired of the same ranting and dead-setters against someone before the primaries have even been set! Promote the person you feel best represents your views for the primaries, but put aside the pettiness and look at the big picture - we ALL lose if ANY democrat that's running takes the white house - PERIOD! And the things we will lose include safety, rights, possibly family members (especially those with military family) and numerous tax hikes that will affect our financial and economic security...the list goes on and on! Let's stop RANTING and return to rational behavior...
Join the growing list.
Neither of them have the classical American worldview of individual liberty, in the commercial or personal sphere. Rudy is, at best, a Gaullist, while Hillary is an out and out socialist.
I see where you are coming from, but we disagree. The difference in you and I is that I know that the military can operate under any President. They even ran well under Clinton and Carter, both of which tried to disassemble our military.
The biggest difference in us is that I can compromise on a few things in a candidate. Abortion, homosexual agenda and amnesty for illegal border invaders are not negotiable, however. If a candidate is on the wrong side of those issues, he/she will NOT get my vote, even if the opponent is Hillary Clinton, the Antichrist herself. All social liberals are alike.
By the way, I lost a brother in the military. Don't you preach about how I feel about the military. I would support the Pentagon and our military any time.
Somehow I knew that I had made the mistake, as soon as I posted. Oh well, my nephew in law played football for OSU. Our family is pretty well divided.
That happens in Oklahoma.
Actually, I am a Texan, just married to an Oklahoma family.
How does someone from Penn. support Oklahoma schools?
Went to high school in Tulsa and attended OSU.
Glad to see you married up! :^)
No more calls, folks! We have a winner here.
You are so right; they're not here FOR anything; they're here to be AGAINST everything.
Do you actually think anybody here cares what you personally think of a screenname on a internet forum?
FGS, you two, for some reason this is SO personal with you all; I suspect it's because you know you're going to lose again.
Thank you, Ma'am. Whatever happened to the "Eleventh Commandment"?
It's the same old siren song........."we can't possibly vote for anyone who can win, we MUST voted for our oh so pure "principles", so that we can sleep at night".
