A young disabled man who receives care for his life-limiting illness at a hospice run by a nun spoke yesterday of his decision to use a prostitute to experience sex before he dies.
Sister Frances Dominica gave her support to 22-year-old Nick Wallis, who was born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Sufferers usually die by their thirties.
Mr Wallis told staff at the Douglas House hospice in Oxford that he wanted to experience sexual intercourse. He explained that he had hoped to form an intimate and loving relationship with a woman, but his disability had acted as a barrier.
He told The Daily Telegraph: "It was a decision two years in the making and I discussed it with my carers and my parents. Telling my mother and father was the hardest part, but in the end they gave me their support.

Rremeber. The spirit and the body are not seperate. They are linked. People often forget that. That is why ones body is often said to be the house of God.
Your body is like a cellur phone to the Big Guy, and the spirit is the electricity.
So the concern for one over the other might not be a true picture of what it is we have to work with. Both are needed, and often the spirit can be positively effected by the body. The body is not dirty, it is a gift from God. And we are meant to use it as it was designed.
Yes, I see you point. But also we should remember that the Big Guy has instructed us on the use of the body. The Nun stepped out of her bounds on this one. Her concern should be the strength of the spirit and the denial of the flesh. This is one of the instructions.

"
I am sure that a woman exists who would fall in love with this poor lad, ...[he should] find her instead of getting it on commercially."
I think you're onto something there. There are all kinds of women in this world who can love and give themselves to all kinds of men. I used to work with a guy who, as a young man of 18, had an operation to remove a tumor on his spinal cord: the surgery left him with severe impairment from the waist down.
A dozen years ago, he got married to a lovely and loving lady, and as far as I know they are still happy. Still married, anyhow. I'd never dream of asking what kind of lovemaking they do, but I'm sure they have some sort of physical relations.
This poor lad in the hospice should advertize for a wife. I double-dang-guarantee you he'll find women who are interested.
To teenyelliott: there are some things that are just true of human nature. You can say "I can shoot heroin and not get addicted" but it's not true. You can say, "I can be sexually promiscuous and not become hard-shelled or numb inside, cynical or callous," but that's not true, either. There are certain behaviors which are damaging. They damage you because you are human. You can deny that, but you can't escape it.

As I said
HERE, this dying boy would do well to advertize for a wife. There are women out there who are able to love even a disabled man in a hospice --- believe me, there are ---and it would be better, more truly human to be held in an embrace that embraces his whole self, to be loved with a whole love, and not just a few garbled fragments.
When love is sold,
Love is cold;
When love is bought,
Love is naught.

Sometimes people can be so anal about sex. I can't wait to see where this group takes that quote.

Or even stranger, a kind of sexual vending machine: a softly-upholstered home therapeutic device with a vagina. What about a loving, compassionate woman who senses a young man wants a moment of bliss before he dies?
I can't believe the self-righteousness on this thread!
Also...the well-known self-righteous prigs!!!

"What about a loving, compassionate woman who senses a young man wants a moment of bliss before he dies? " You and I are in agreement on that one. As I said at 362 and 364, this man's soul is crying for a loving woman, not a rented whore.

, it would have been nice if one of the single nurses volunteered for the job instead of a prostitute though! And they are there to perform these functions for patients? Are you nuts?
IF this just HAD to occur (and I find it sick quite frankly, then let him pay for it like any body else who can't get sex any other way.

You and I are in agreement on that one. As I said at 362 and 364, this man's soul is crying for a loving woman, not a rented whore. Of course...I am a woman who has had a double mastectomy. Waiting around for a "loving man" is a waste of time.
You are very sanctimonious. I am GLAD this young man got a hint of what sexual pleasure is before he dies.
You don't have a hint of compassion in your body.

Preferably without the assistance of the clergy acting as pimps.

It was meant tongue in cheek, now don't read anything sexual into that.
It just would have been nice if a non-prostitute deflowered the young man, someone willing to perform an act of kindness, a "mission of mercy"

But he didn't get what he wanted. It was disappointing. He said so himself. If it's "un-compassionate" to say people need love, then this must be Ix-Nay Opposite Day.

You don't have a hint of compassion in your body.
If you believe in eternal life, I would say that you do not have compassion for a person moving onto the after life.
If you look at this from the flesh's point of view, you would wish to feed him the flesh. He will get his two minute reward here on earth and die knowing what it was all about.
What if he would receive a greater reward in the after life, if he denied the flesh and feed the spirit?
What if he had the spiritual strength to deny the flesh? What if the Nun did her job as a member of the clergy? Per the word of God, she should be feeding this man's spirit and not his flesh. It is not the clergy's position to act as pimps.
If he wanted to do this, he should have done it on his own. He should not have involved the Nun or the media. It is his free will to do what he wants, but I think the Hospice is out of line on this.

A "one special lady" isn't looking for an "experinced love machine." She's looking for a man -- a whole man, one with a heart, soul, mind and body, all connected together and complete in every detail.
A man who's making it with a lot of different women, is a man with a condom on his heart. He's not only not making love, he isn't even making contact.
WORTH REPEATING.
