A young disabled man who receives care for his life-limiting illness at a hospice run by a nun spoke yesterday of his decision to use a prostitute to experience sex before he dies.
Sister Frances Dominica gave her support to 22-year-old Nick Wallis, who was born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Sufferers usually die by their thirties.
Mr Wallis told staff at the Douglas House hospice in Oxford that he wanted to experience sexual intercourse. He explained that he had hoped to form an intimate and loving relationship with a woman, but his disability had acted as a barrier.
He told The Daily Telegraph: "It was a decision two years in the making and I discussed it with my carers and my parents. Telling my mother and father was the hardest part, but in the end they gave me their support.

That's the larger point, some here who are opposed to legalized prostitution (not me) still understand this was a merciful act and are happy for the young man.
I believe it also merciful for men who are widowed, unable to attract women, etc. to use a prostitute, their needs and biological desires are just as strong as the dying young man.

Did it mention in the article whether or not prostitution is illegal where he lives?

Indeed Ecce Homo. Perhaps if he had sex frequently with the right lady, he might fully recover his health. It has been known to happen.

I suppose one can arrive at that conclusion, assuming there are no moral absolutes. I can understand his perspective, it's the nun's that is out of line given her supposed faith.

I heard that "Geraldo At Large" is being cancelled. I wonder what is next for Laurie....... "do the dhue" will have to compete for Laurie after a looong, At large Geraldo program.

The same should be applied by everyone on this thread to the young man in this article, I think.I think most of the bad feeling on this thread has been directed toward the "Sister," and not the young man. At least that is so in my case.

I think it is great. They were both consinting adults, and harmed no one. I hope the guy has many opportunities in the future.

What other crimes would you allow him to requestIntersting question.
I would say any crime that does not involve force, fraud, or violating property rights.
How does that sound?

I concur.
I think what the clergy allegedly did is the real story here.

We'll have to disagree here...humans are more than an uncontrollable animal...well, all of us but democrats (jk)

My only point is that, as a Catholic, I was relieved to find my Church had no part in this circus. If members of the Church of Scotland are OK with this type of thing, that's their own business.
If you choose to read more into my statement than that, that's your problem.
To: Wormwood
Well, at least you have standards of allowable crimes. So then, for example, you'd allow him to use something like cocaine recreational if it were his dying wish?

Thank you for being the arbiter of right and wrong. I'm sure God appreciates your opinion in this matter. And, he's also really glad there's folks like you out there deciding right & wrong for all of humanity - so he/she/it doesn't need to bother with the little details. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy that there are little Vice-Gods like yourself here on earth to keep the ole planet on the "right path".
