A young disabled man who receives care for his life-limiting illness at a hospice run by a nun spoke yesterday of his decision to use a prostitute to experience sex before he dies.
Sister Frances Dominica gave her support to 22-year-old Nick Wallis, who was born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Sufferers usually die by their thirties.
Mr Wallis told staff at the Douglas House hospice in Oxford that he wanted to experience sexual intercourse. He explained that he had hoped to form an intimate and loving relationship with a woman, but his disability had acted as a barrier.
He told The Daily Telegraph: "It was a decision two years in the making and I discussed it with my carers and my parents. Telling my mother and father was the hardest part, but in the end they gave me their support.

Ordinarily, you can't get into Hospice unless you're terminal and a doctor thinks you have less than 6 months to live. I don't know how Terri Schiavo got in, but that's what Hospice told me when I signed my mom's rights away to them. Of course, doctors can be wrong, and Hospice won't necessarily kick a patient out if they exceed their 6 months.
I have less of a problem with prostitution than I do with abortion. Indeed, if laws against the latter are unconstitutional, laws against the former are on shaky ground. In the former case, there's no baby's life to protect (yet).
I think you could live for a very long time without eating bread.
Yes , that was close.
I know from experience that Church of Scotland women are superior to Catholic Church women, much more passionate and compassionate, and much stronger too.

Hehehe. I love it when a thread brings the prudes out.
Reading the article, it's a little ambiguous, but he himself says he didn't discuss it with this Sister Frances, AND that the commercial transaction occurred in his parents' home (not in an institution controlled by the nun.)
So it seems he's just bringing Sr. Frances into the picture as a makeweight argument to justify a disappointing action which he had alredy decided upon, and which the nun could not have prevented.
He expresses a certain sadness and ambivalence, too, saying it was "not emotionally fulfilling." Sex-for-hire doesn't increase the love, beauty, trust, or joy of this earthly life -- especially, I daresay, for someone who will soon be leaving it. It just makes everything a little bit colder.
Hey, every church has it prerequisite loonies. It's God's way of making life interesting. But in order to really make a joke, you have to understand that which you are mocking, that way you can point out the irony.
What other crimes would you allow him to request...how about someone's murder...after all, it's his dying wish.
There are plenty of people hanging around these parts who feel fully justified in telling others what to do, what to believe, what to feel, what to say, how to vote, what to drink, eat, sip, smoke and who to screw.
So now you're equating having sex with murder? Wow. Are you a woman or a man?
So now you're equating having sex with murder? Wow. Are you a woman or a man?
I find that butterly ridiculous.
True. We are free in this country, and many feel that the way to live in freedom is to immediately restrict it. One way this is done, is to tell others what they feel, which actually means , "I do not want to know how or what you feel, unless I approve of it." Censorship is not freedom.
That is not responsible freedom. Its very subtle at times.
Poets feel the devine in a morning sunshine butter cup sprinkled with morning dew. But they shouldn't feel that, they might get out of control and do something sinful!
I heard one time about (I think) Japanese subs having prostitutes on board subs/ships for the men's use.
No, I'm saying both prostitution and murder are illegal. If you somehow think that means all crimes are equal you have bigger problems then reading my posts. I was just attempting to determine what level of crime you believe is acceptable as a dying wish. So would you allow the request for a murder or not?
Yup, I know a few of them.
And some of thenm are fine people.
Did you read the entire article?
I like you. You are very punny.
yes
GRIN!
And you and I are not among 'em. Praise the Lord for that.
