On brink of climate disaster (no seriously, there is a 99% certainty that the planet is done for)

The updated expert scientific advice for the meeting is considerably more confident that global warming is caused by man-made emissions of greenhouse gases. The best assessment for the last climate change panel meeting put the likelihood at more than 66 per cent that human activity was to blame. But the scientists now assert it is more than a 90 per cent likelihood, say sources familiar with the confidential advice.

Assume it's 100%...then what? Does that mean we can realistically do anything about it? If right now we reduced our carbon usage to the minimum we could achieve without risking widespread public health consequences, to what degree would the problem be mitigated? If instead we had done that starting in 1990, again, what mitigation?

The answer in either case is that it would hardly be mitigated at all. By the time we had any inkling it was a problem, it was already too late, according to the models. So what does the handwringing and recriminations accomplish, anyway?

The scientists predict that the average global temperature will rise by 0.2 degrees in each of the next two decades, double the rate of warming that would have occurred if greenhouse outputs had been stabilised at 2000 levels

It will interesting to see if these predictions come true. If not, these guys have some 'splaining to do.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, weathermen can't even accurately predict the next day's weather.

weathermen can't even accurately predict the next day's weather.

Due to chaos. I know this is just my pet peeve, but the models for weather can't predict weather because of chaotic inputs. But if they had enough detail and resemblance to real world weather, they could predict climate. The biggest problem with climate "science" is that the weather models are mostly trivial and always inadequate.

That doesn't bode well for our little political editor's success in future debates when actual knowledgeable humans are present, does it?

For ideological polemics, facts are merely something to be used or not used or abused as the situation dictates. What counts is not finding out what is but getting what you want.

90% of the green house effect in the Earth's atmosphere is caused by water or water vapor. Only 10% of the remaining 10% of green house effect is attributable to CO2. That means that the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is at most, 1% of the total atmospheric green house effect.

This is the best article on the Great Global Warming Scam that I've read to date.

fi you beleive that, i have a bridge in new york i'll sell to ya cheap.

See... you're after my money too! ;~))

camle,
They don't want to kill the goose that laid the golden egg. They want you to keep doing what you're doing, but instead of feeling good about it, they want you to feel guilty every time you start your car or turn on a light. They want you to feel shame and be fearful of the future so you will give them more of your money to protect you from yourself.

Too true, just as true now that the ideological dictators are secular as it ever was before.

I think we should all state very clearly that if you have to take something on faith, then that makes it a religion, no matter where you thought you got the data from in the first place.

Where are we on Ted Danson's Doomsday Calendar? Hasn't that already elapsed? Did anyone call him out on this?

geez, we have ruined our entire solar system now. Maybe Al can find another solar system and a rocket ship and he and his screwy, liberal friends can all take a long ride. Please Al, be thinking about it. We don't mind staying behind and holding down the fort. What NUTS!!!

Did you ever notice that 99% of all global warming advocates hate Bush, smoking, Christians, the WOT and SUV's; and love socialists, vegetarians, atheists, Democrats, taxes, abortionists and PETA?
Best way to get rid of global warming is to tax hot air generated by the lunatic left.

500 Years? How do they know? I mean that too...how would they know what the climate was 500 years ago? Did they keep records of the weather 500 years ago?
The reason I ask is because we are having this debate in my office as I write this.

So Long & Thanks for All the Fish

So long and thanks for all the fish
So sad that it should come to this
We tried to warn you all but oh dear?

You may not share our intellect
Which might explain your disrespect
For all the natural wonders that
grow around you

So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish

The world's about to be destroyed
There's no point getting all annoyed
Lie back and let the planet dissolve

Despite those nets of tuna fleets
We thought that most of you were sweet
Especially tiny tots and your
pregnant women

So long, so long, so long, so long, so long
So long, so long, so long, so long, so long

So long, so long and thanks
for all the fish

To: CurlyBill; All

Oh, no, no, no! Don't listen to that hack Ted Danson! THIS guy reveals all on Global Warming! *SMIRK*

Gordon Michael Scallion

Gordon-Michael Scallion has received thousands of messages about the upcoming changes on our planet. Gordon-Michael has created 2 maps depicting how the United States - and how the world - will look after drastic Earth changes.

Gordon receives many of his messages in dream state. Sometimes they appear on his computer screen. Often he steps into another reality where he receives messages from an entity named Matrix.

His abilities began after an accident in the 1980's that left him unable to speak for several days. He later discovered he could see auras around people and predict events with perfect accuracy.

As with all predictions for the planet he has told me that the future of the planet can change from moment to moment depending on the thought forms of humanity.

Re your reply #15.
After reading the great article in your post, it is amazing to me how anyone with half a brain could be taken in by such nonsense as man made global warming.
IMHO, this phony scare is just a pretext for more Socialism.

Global Warming is like religion.
It is based on belief that cannot be scientifically proven either way.
