Free Admission

I just get free admission to the show,
When talent is the coin that gets you,
Where you want to go,
I just get free admission to the show.

Well, some folks say I’m talented, and others that I’m blessed.
It isn’t something special that I do,
I’m putting words together just like beads upon a string,
And when I’m done I show them all to you.

And that’s what gets me in to see the show,
They must just think I know someone up high,
They always let me just go walking by,
So that I get free admission to the show.

They like to listen to me, and I like to make noise,
So that’s the way to play the game for me.
Sometimes they gather round me when I’m gathered to myself,
And sometimes I’m alone as I can be.

And I just get free admission to the show,
I’m allowed to have free passage almost everywhere I go,
Cause someone thinks I’m special, but just how I do not know,
But I still get free admission to the show.

I wear smiles because I’m happy, and I never mind the pain,
It just runs right off my shoulders when it lands,
I’m as happy as a duck that has been caught out in the rain,
For my pain’s no more than time upon my hands.
