THIS IS AN URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT:
The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic is canceling our planned gathering at Upper Senate Park scheduled for 10 a.m. this Saturday, January 27, and will instead focus our efforts on the appearance at the Navy Memorial that morning by Jane Fonda for a so-called antiwar rally there.
We will gather at 9 a.m. and stay through Fonda's scheduled appearance at 10 a.m.
Please bring American and service flags, signs bearing messages of support for our troops, as well as signs denouncing Fonda and her band of traitors.
The following is the announcement by the sponsor of Saturday's larger 'antiwar' rally on the Mall about the Navy Memorial event:
10am: Women Say Pull Out! Women's Convergence for DC Mobilization
Join Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Congresswomen Maxine Waters and Lynn Woolsey, Rhea Perlman, Eve Ensler, Mimi Kennedy, Q'orianka Kilcher, the Co-founders of CODEPINK and many other amazing women. Other co-sponsors include: National Organization for Women, V-Day, WAND, Feminist Majority, Feminist Peace Network and WATER. Don't forget your PINK!
Where: Navy Memorial, 7th and Pennsylvania NW
When: Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 10am We will rally at 10am then meet up with the UFPJ rally and march!
The enemies of this nation are feeling so emboldened that they are confident enough to bring Jane Fonda to a MEMORIAL for the United States Navy. During the Vietnam war Fonda traveled to North Vietnam and posed with our enemy on an anti-aircraft battery used to shoot down our Navy pilots.
Please join us in protecting the honor and memory of the sailors and pilots of the U.S. Navy from Jane Fonda and those who support the enemy in this war.
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
We will be downtown all day as we also plan to counter-protest the 'antiwar' march after their rally on the Mall
Dress warm, it's going to be cold but dry.
Metro stations close to the Navy Memorial include Archives/Navy Memorial on the Green and Yellow lines, Gallery Place on the Red, Green and Yellow lines and Federal Triangle on the Orange and Blue lines. Street parking and garage parking is available.
We've got your back. Thank you for your service!
You'll carry my heart, Sandy.
It's High Noon in the OK Corral.
But you knew that, didn't ya.
Godspeed.
Thanks, freema. This one will be worth setting my alarm on a Saturday. :-)
Thank you! Hopefully they'll respond.
Thank you!
Geez, Sandy, I need to be the one thanking you.
I'm so mad I'm shaking.
Thanks, Jim!
I was raised in a military family and my father was always visibly angry whenever Jane Fonda was mentioned. He taught us just what a traitor and collaborator she was. I don't think I'll tell him about this latest event, he might pop a gasket!
I look forward to hearing about the successful FREEP!
I know what you mean.
This will be my first protest. I've gone to the 122 overpass outside Ft Lewis a couple of times, but this is different. I bet my husband will be mad he's missing it.
Thanks. When Freepers are sufficently motivated we can move mountains.
If you can use the term "baby boomer" to describe the current crop of elitist left that think that mommy knows best, you can describe the next generation as X,Y,Z, and they are a far cry from the angry haters of the worn out left. The left just doesn't realize that they are past their prime and are beginning to be a drag, both economicly and socially.
Listening to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid is like going to a homeowners' meeting in a retirement community.
Yep. Better to tell him afterward.
Given the expected turnout, I was thinking Little Big Horn :-(
See my post #135.
The Navy Memorial is where the Navy holds memorial services and tributes. Wreath laying ceremonies occur there on Pearl Harbor Day, Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
"I generally agree with forgiveness, but not for her."
I run with an "older" crowd, so the majority of my Army pals are all 10-15 years older than I am. Believe me, if you want any of my Vietnam pals to get p*ssed off, and quick, all you have to do is mention her!
