Gov. Kathleen Blanco angrily criticized President Bush on Wednesday for not mentioning 2005's destructive hurricanes in his State of the Union speech, and said Louisiana is being shortchanged in federal recovery funding for political reasons.
"I guess the pain of the hurricane is yesterday's news in Washington," Blanco said at a news conference.

I went to a LA newspaper site and at the end of that article, it said that someone wanted Pres. Bush to federalize the coast of LA and MS. Pres. Bush would not because the governor of MS is a Republican instead of a democrat. Has anyone else heard anything about that?
"I guess the pain of the hurricane is yesterday's news in Washington," Blanco said at a news conference.
Last year's news, Hon.
I DARE you to bring that BS down here and try to pass that crap off. Please, I beg you. I know some Corps of Engineers folks that wold LOVE to chat with you.
Yesterday's news? HECK It's two year old news! How many Billion$ are we supposed to pour down the rat hole?
"Governor Kathleen Blanco, who forgot to activate the South Lousiana Evacuation Plan as a Cat5 hurricane bore down on New Orleans, despite being asked by the President to do so, today chided the President for forgetting to mention New Orleans and Huricane Katrina in his State of the Union address."
You only hear on the news that the airports are shut down.
My thoughts EXACTLY!!! Well said......
Yeah, and the opposition has a great free market plan with no tax hikes...oh wait, they're going for HillaryCare. Never mind.
He also faled to apologize for the heartbreak of psoriasis. Unfeeling bastard.
In the aftermath, Diane "Sister Suck-Up" Sawyer sat in a tent with none other than former Clintonite Jamie Lee Whitt, who under a $60,000 grant, wrote the South Louisiana Evacuation Plan, and Governor Blanco, the only government official charged with activating the plan.
As others in the tent whined about the lack of federal response, it did not occur to Sawyer to ask any questions of Blanco and Whitt except of the "how does it feel to be abandoned" variety. It was irresponsible journalism of the lowest variety.
Blanco is probably the worst governor in the history of the United States. It was she who abandoned the people to die in New Orleans, while assuring the President that heavier-duty help wasn't needed. And there are no reporters (as in zero) exploring her whereabouts and decision-making when the ball was in her hands.
This ungrateful bitch keeps passing the blame for her own incompetence and the unpreparedness of people in her state onto others.
It is not the federal government's responsibility to prepare a state for disasters.
It is not the federal government's responsibility to pay for damages due to natural disasters.
The federal government has provided aid because the state government was not able to meet it's obligations to it's people on it's own.
Instead of gratitude to the rest of the country that has funneled billions in tax dollars and private donations into her state, all we have heard is complaints and accusations that others aren't doing enough to help her state.
Her state rather than getting "ripped off" has received far in excess of what they "deserve", and a benefiting greatly from the generosity of the rest of the nation.
A question for you, double bacon genius burger: Where did the water come from that the levees failed to hold back? Was it transported there by Mr. Scott from on board the Enterprise? And who was responsible for evacuating all the folks who weren't evacuated and were in the path of the water when the levees broke? Here's a hint: Not the Corps of Engineers.
Whining is the only play she has. She's too stupid and too late to fix anything, and she's going to be grilled by a guv challenger soon.
So her only shot is to get her N.O., uneducated, thug, tax-sponging constituency mad at GWB and the gubmint again.
The ice storm in Missouri had my power out for several days, there are trees down all over my yard...
WHERE IS MY GOVERNMENT DEBIT CARD!!!!
It hurts so bad to be old news. Good thing self reliance is an Ozark (was American)virtue.
Yes, Blank-Oh is getting windy again. Geez! I hope Jindal beats the snot out of her in the next election.
LOL!!
You're right! And not from the people who suffered from Hurricane Rita either.
Probably a lot, they're pros at it. I'm wondering where the heck all the charitable donations went, all the so called "stars" that raised a ton of money for N.O. Don't hear much about that.
C'mon now. N.O. is not wiped off the map, and the flooding there would have been just the same irrespective of who had "control" in the moments Katrina hit. Let's calm down a bit here.
