He really does look great.

Here's a McHale's Navy cast photo, since you won't likely see that show on TV Land any time soon (too expensive to edit out all the "Nip" references, I guess.):

This is interesting because of his Connecticut connections. Might want to ping the Connecticut contingent.

Borgnine will be remembered most fondly by us latch-key kids of the 80s as the "other guy" on Airwolf.

Married to Katy Jurado! Now he is my hero. Jurado was a classic non-girl-next-door beauty with strength and dignity. Even as a kid I couldn't figure Coop dumping her for Grace Kelly in High Noon. Jurado's scene with Slim Pickens (her dying husband) in Pat Garret and Billy the Kid is what film should be but very very rarely is.

If anyone hasn't already seen it, I highly recommend the version of "All Quiet on The Western Front" Starring Ron Howard and Ernest Borgnine. Yeah, I know how could Ron Howard ever be a good fit in a war movie. I thought the same thing until I watched the movie and then i realized Ron Howard was the perfect fit for the character.

He was also good in the Jim Bowie bio called THE LAST COMMAND. It was a great Alamo film. Borgnine played a knife fighter who lost a fight with Bowie but survived and later was glad to follow him into battle. As the Alamo falls to the Mexicans the Borgnine character is run through with a bayonet but he still manages to throw the Mexican off the wall.

I agree that "Marty" was a fine movie. And wasn't Katy Jurado also married to John Wayne? She had that "spitfire" thing down pretty well.

Happy Birthday!

"Bad Day at Black Rock"..Spencer Tracy, Lee Marvin, Robert Ryan, Walter Brennan, Dean Jagger and Ernest Borgnine. Some of my all time favorites in one movie. With Anne Francis as eye candy!

I don't even think John Wayne could've added anything to that movie.

He always has been one of my favorite actors. For some reason, Hollywood didn't seem to appreciate him. Why he wasn't nominated for an Oscar for "The Poseidon Adventure" I'll never understand.

Best wishes, Ernest.
