The Most Depressing Poll Ever, Demonrat's desire for failure in the Middle East

In the latest Fox News poll, just out today, the pollsters asked the following question:

Do you personally want the Iraq plan President Bush announced last week to succeed?

Here are the results:

Overall: 63% Yes 22% No 15% Don’t Know

Democrats: 51% Yes 34% No 15% Don’t Know

Republicans: 79% Yes 11% No 10% Don’t Know

Independents 63% Yes 19% No 17% Don’t Know

Friends, I’ll allow you a minute to wrap your minds around this, for we are truly through the looking class. Even though we have some 150,000 troops in harm’s way and we universally profess to “support the troops,” over 1/3 of our society either wants them to fail or doesn’t know if they want them to succeed. Even more chilling are the results regarding our currently dominant political party. 49% of Democrats either want us to lose in Iraq or “don’t know” if they want us to succeed.

I would love to hear why losing in Iraq would be in the national interest. And I would love to hear the humanitarian justification for leaving Baghdad’s civilians to the tender mercies of the murderous militias and terrorists that stalk that city.

And I would also love to hear Democratic leaders respond to these poll numbers. But I won’t hold my breath.

I'm disappointed in the Rep and the Independents, already knew how the Dems feel.

Actually, I think it's low. Every democrat that I know and have talked to about the war wants the US to lose and be humiliated. Their hatred for the country that we love is overwhelming.

I am truly glad you are glad that 63% overall want the plan to succeed...YOU have more of a right to an opinion than I do.

However...I can't wrap my head around the idea of 37% of Americans NO WANTING US TO SUCCEED..after 9/11...and after the lessons we learned after Vietnam.

Of course the numbers by the Dems aren't surprising..the numbers for the Republicans ARE surprising to me--that less than 80% of Republicans don't want us to succeed..or don't know(?)...pitiful

But. but, but, there's no difference in the two parties, right?

LOL....I know....but after what we have seen and heard from the rats the last week or so I am happy with a majority of 63%...sad isn't it......Of course, I'd love the 100% but that is never going to happen.....people have become too complacent sine 9-11....and it's too bad they can't support their military who have always sacrificed for their country......but I read once that all the way back to the American Revolution up until now, there have always been that 33% of the population who were against any military action.....if we listened to that group, we would still be speaking with British accents...

I think perhaps it's just a poor interpretation of the question that got these results. If people are unfamiliar with the new plan, or are otherwise in that "oppose all wars" camp then they might come up with such a stupid or knee jerk answer to the question.

Anyone who wants the US to fail in Iraq is sick in the head. That is different, of course, from wanting to wind down the operations. Of course, I personally think we have to finish what we started to the best of our abilities before leaving.

LOL...I have to say...after watching a few weeks of the Senate and the House..

I would not be against just getting rid of all of them..both parties..and starting all over.

I haven't gotten inspired or even been happy with a THING that I have heard..with the exception of the day that Harry Reid had to call a do-over on a vote, because too many Dems voted FOR an amendment that Sen. DeMint (R) put up!

THAT didn't even end up making me happy...because DeMint ended up negotiating with the dems to get his passed...ugh.

When lesser anti-truth, anti-freedom, anti-individual, anti-life collectives join forces with greater anti-truth, anti-freedom, anti-individual, anti-life collectives...

For the mostpart, Republicans are gutless. They don't fight for what they were elected to do.

Why aren't Stainman, Burger, Reid, Jefferson... in jail?

I think that 11/7 should have been as big of a wake-up call as 9/11 was...re: the politics in this country.

What too many Republicans are doing is thinking in pre-9/11 and pre 11/7 mode..and so I think the lack of a Santorum in the Senate is just really hurting us now.

I saw yesterday, where Sen. Warner is going to do the same thing re: Bush's new plan for Iraq....as he did for Bush's plans for detaining the terrorists..and getting conservative judges on to the bench...

He is going to go SQUISHY with the likes of Collins and Snowe..and others to bring Pres. Bush, and the national security down...AGAIN

Elections have consequences and the consequences of the November's election have only just begun.

The DemonRATs don't want "their money" spent on the military. That money is for building and consolidating their power. This is why they hate Israel. The money we send to Israel is coveted by the socialist left. They would have no problem if Israel ceased to exist. One less problem in the world and more money for them. The typical liberal thinks that the United States has enough of its own problems to be trying to fix the problems of the rest of the world. They are selfish. Forget trying to remind them that the poorest of our poor live better than those in entire countries. Forget telling them that the United States, being the richest country on earth, has an obligation to the rest of the world. Part of the socialist left's problem is they reject Christianity which works to change our selfish nature. Forget telling them that no man is an island and that the bell that tolls for their fellow man may soon toll for them.

We need to have another civil war to straighten these miscreants out.

Today's national Democrat Party resembles the Bolshiviks. Quite frankly, the real war is internal, not from some distant land abroad.

Any poll with the option "I don't know" is dumb.

If you don't know, then you shouldn't be asked to participate in the poll.

There have been some polls here on FR where if I am not up on the topic, and don't have an opinion; I don't vote on the poll.

"Every Republican needs to pound on this subject, every time they're in front of any TV camera or reporter."

It will never happen! They are politicians. Me. Me. Me. My reelection is more important!

Great point...that is why I usually automatically put lump them with the "no" votes..

I should know better than to even pay attention to polls...we have been warned, over and over how slanted they are...

But, when our GOP politicians get beat over the head with them...and are asked to "explain them"..it gets frustrating.

When Wolf Blitzer had on Maxine Waters and Mike Pence today...he let Maxine go on and on about her group's agenda...but when he went to Mike Pence..he flashed up Pres. Bush's personal poll ratings!!!

Mike Pence shouldn't have all of his time taken up trying to defend a probably rigged poll....he should be able to put forth his, and his conservative House members goals.

YOU?? That is good to know..since I do the same thing.

This is where Mitch McConnell has a chance to not be like Bill Frist...

He needs to get with Warner and other GOP and ask them if they REALLY do want to present a case for losing in Iraq?
