Palestinian Prime Minister says he will accept Palestinian state on '67 borders in exchange for 10 year truce

Associated Press Published: 01.20.07, 19:33

Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said Saturday that his Hamas-led government would be willing to accept a temporary Palestinian state in the West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem in exchange for a 10-year truce with Israel.

His comments - consistent with a call for Israeli withdrawal to 1967 borders - came as Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was scheduled to meet Hamas' supreme leader Khaled Mashaal in Syria to discuss ways to form a coalition government and end international sanctions on the Palestinians.

Proposals for a temporary truce forwarded by Haniyeh have previously been rejected by Israel and the international community because they have not conformed to the international community's demands that the organization recognize Israel's right to exist and renounce violence.

"We are with liberating any inch of Palestine," the Palestinian Prime Minister said in a televised address, explaining his suggestion.

"But we will not close the door for the next generation, because the weak don't always stay weak, and the strong won't stay strong," he added.

At least this perfidious Palestinian was slightly honest. He offers not peace, but merely a ten-year delay in the murderous war on Israel. No intelligent person will take this seriously.

Yep, Muslims are so trustworthy. Israel would be foolish to even consider it.

And his promise is worth a paper bag full of warm spit.

He can't stop his own people from killing his own people; he's not going to stop them from killing the "enemy".

But of course, you know that.

#^@$% that!

How about, the PA actually follow any number of "peace agreements" signed since 1948?

Comparisons between PA factions and the KKK are in order. In both cases, the world has move on and now disdains their cause. In both cases, their movement has fragmented into rival factions. In both cases, the only remaining people are die hards and dead-enders. And, in both cases, any sympathy that was once theirs is long since gone after acts of terrorism.

10 years = classic hudna (time to rearm and plan the best time to abrogate the agreement and attack)

Once again, the only way to deal with Muslims obsessed with land is to take away their land. Nothing else matters.

After each and every terrorist attack, Israel should take a small section of land adjacent to the wall, and build new wall around it. If they cannot bear to just take the land, then they should pay its owner fair market value. And once the land is taken, it should remain fallow, and be designated as "training area" for the Israeli army. No admittance to anyone.

From that point on, those land takings should become non-negotiable, with anyone. If the Paleos or another country so much as mentions them during negotiations, no matter what else is on the table, the Israelis walk out.

The land is gone for good. Then the Israelis tell the Paleos a simple rule: "Stop attacks against us by anyone on your land, or we will take more of your land."

It is a simple rule. And more than anything else it will end the status quo. Either the Paleos stop being violent, or eventually they will have no land left, and will be kicked out to Egypt or Jordan.

When the first little sliver of land is taken, the Arab world will scream in pain and will do anything to get that land back. They will put intense pressure on other nations to force Israel to return that land. They will act like nothing else matters to them in the entire world than a few hundred acres of desert.

The other nations of the world will be puzzled and ask the Israelis to return the land. What does it matter?, they will say. It's nothing.

But it's not. It is everything. Since the Israelis pride themselves on their tolerance, for once they have to be utterly intolerant. As intolerant as if they had captured Hitler himself, as other nations plead to let him go.

Because he is just an old man. He should be left to live out his life in peace.

That little sliver of land could be the turning point. Because it will strike fear beyond fear into the hearts of every Paleo, that even another sliver of land will be taken away. They will have failed Allah Himself. Because it is their belief that land, once under the flag of Islam, must *always* remain Muslim. Anything else is blasphemy.

Their lives are nothing compared to this rule. Muslim land must be increased, and once obtained, must be held even at the cost of one's life. And of one's family. Of anything. It is the most precious thing on all the Earth to Muslims.

So if this is all they care about, then this is the punishment they must face.

how about a permanent truce for a return to the 1933 borders? Is that good enough for Hamas?

Idiots.
