This is unbelievable. Bush pardons 5 drug dealers over Christmas and won't pardon two Border Patrol officers who shot and wounded a drug dealer with 750 pounds of pot on him.

Well, it's about time! I'm glad that somebody finally got Bush's attention on this.

Aldrete-Davila fled to Mexico, but U.S. officials brought him back to the United States - with the promise of full immunity and medical treatment - if he testified against the agents.

This is so wrong it makes me sick.

Do you know the facts surrounding any of these cases? Were you at the trials or have you read the court transcripts?

The US attorney who is responsible for this whole fiasco is a close associate of Bush. I can't believe that this wasn't done as part of a program to discourage anyone from interfering with illegal entry to this country possibly including drug traffic.

Nobody's gotten his attention - he's only "talking" to them. Apparently, modern presidents like Clinton and Bush will only pardon the guilty.

Well, I tried posting facts according to reporting done by Investor's Business Daily, but my post got deleted by the mods. Seems you can't post news articles even though they have attribution? Sounds like a ridiculous rule to me.

Bush desperately needs to regain friends on both sides of the aisle.

Fox news just spoke on this and said 27% of the prison population is made up of illegal aliens. IF that number is true, then they must be in federal prison because the Bureau of Justice site states "about 4% of State prison inmates were not U.S. citizens at yearend 2001".

My info on this case is a little vague. As I gather these two officers interdicted this drug smuggler one night and he took off running. The popped off about fifteen rounds at him. They searched his van and found the dope. They must have thought they missed him and didnt feel like epsnding half the night making out reports of a shooting so they picked up their spent rounds re-loaded their weapons and went home.
Then this character somehow shows up in Mexico with a bullet in his back. Somebody pimped and the US government spen a ton of money and broguth this guy bakc to testify against the agents.

Now the way I see this they were doing their job unbtil they slipped up and shot at this guy, Then they tried to hide that fatc. Now to me they deserve to lose their jobs. They dont deserve prison.

It sounds like a situation that needs careful review. On the face of it it doesn't seem like these guys deserve prison but if they covered up the facts they committed a serious offense.

The president is being responsible by considering all the facts involved. I don't get the hysteria by the border nuts.

"The pair has found support for a presidential pardon in the form of legislation sponsored by Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-El Cajon, and in petitions with more than 250,000 signatures.

"More than 70 representatives have signed on to Hunter's legislation, making it the first time in American history that Congress has taken an active role in the pardon process...

"...the decision to grant a pardon still rests solely with the president."

Thank God for Hunter!

What does it take to shake the lead out of Bush?

He is yet to close the Mexican Border; he is yet to stop the flood of illegal immigration--though both are demanded overwhelmingly by a majority of the American people!

He is yet to champion the nullification of the Supreme Court's ridiculous and indecent "Eminent Domain" decision!

He is yet to curtail Federal Government spending!

Yes, 9/11 was never repeated because of President Bush and his expert and attentive leadership, but today he seems determined to alienate the American people--including his base support--as much as possible.

The wretched, decadent, dangerous, Marxist, anti-American Democrats are obviously rejoicing--and wringing their hands with delight over the prospects of the 2008 election.

Now the way I see this they were doing their job unbtil they slipped up and shot at this guy, Then they tried to hide that fatc. Now to me they deserve to lose their jobs. They dont deserve prison.

They were doing their jobs when they shot at the guy also. According to the agents he had a gun, according to the perp he didn't. So the feds took the word of an illegal drug runner over two border patrol agents. As for not reporting the shooting, it is not a "serious" crime. It requires 5 days suspension, not loss of job and not prison time.

They were jailed for many other offenses, none of them provable and only supported by the word of this illegal drug running asshat who got off scot free from any crime and also received free medical, plus now he is suing for 5 million bucks for violation of his "civil rights". You know, the rights that illegals don't have because they are law breakers and should be deported and/or jailed.

Yes, the agents should have reprorted the shooting, this was a mistake and actually allowed the open border administration to railroad the two agents because it ate into their credibility. The fact is, the only evidence they have that the agents committed the offenses for which they were jailed is the word of this illegal, lying, drug running scum bag.

Strictly speaking as a "Border Nut" I don't understand all this sympathy for the perp. Further, I am sick of legal eagles that attack the people who defend this nation via arcane laws and 20-20 hindsight. The only crime the agents are guilty of is poor marksmanship. For that they should be given remedial training.

Far from being angry at the agents, I am furious at a legal system that could charge them in the first place and then convict them. My God, these people were justifiably afraid of loosing their lives, their future, and their families due to a run away Judaical system that persecutes the innocent. And that is just what happened. The full force of the government came down on them in support of...the criminal. Imagine that.

If this nonsense keeps up, one day we will all wake up and find the armed forces and security forces held a trial and found that we were not worthy of their protection. And who could blame them?
