DNA tests conducted by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation have determined that a body recovered in the Philippines last month was that of Khadaffy Janjalani, head of the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic extremist group Abu Sayyaf. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition when it was discovered on the southern island of Jolo in a shallow grave. The state of the body made direct identification impossible.
The 31 year-old Abu Sayyaf leader was south-east Asia's most wanted man and authorities were offering a five million dollar reward for his capture. Abu Sayyaf is trying to create an Islamic state in the southern Philippines and has been responsible for numerous deadly terrorist attacks. A number of Abu Sayyaf leaders have been killed in recent months and Manila says that the army's recent successes against the extremists have paralysed the group.

Slain Abu Sayyaf leader was a reluctant terrorist, Philippine security officials say
Snort.
Don'cha just love AP?
And to think that they had to sift through the remains, such as they were, to take a dna sample. It brings joy to the heart.
My wife is from Mindanao, the big island next door to Jolo. Maybe now it will be safe for me to visit there again. The last time, everybody was friendly, but being tall and white, I stood out like a sore thumb everywhere.
Before I read the article, I thought it would read "Exhaustive and invasive tests indicate that Khadaffy Janjalani is dead. He initially denied being dead, but the autopsy results were conclusive."
Manila says that the army's recent successes against the extremists have paralysed the group. In the long run, the way to succeed is to round up all Moslems and give them the choice of repudiating Islam (wiping the ass with the Koran should be indicative) or getting a bullet in the head. While that is going on, bulldoze the mosques and defeat the terrorist "militias".
Thanks for that headline.
I needed a chuckle!
After scanning it, it looks like he was actually just "a late bloomer".
"Hello, hello - are you dead?" :-)
Nancy Pelosi deeply saddened
