Squid seem to be very intelligent, like octopi. It was probably tired and needed a rest. So hitch a ride via suction cups..........

This sounds like a good strategy for winning the America's cup. Train some giant squids to attach themselves to the boats you fear the most. I guess I should try this idea at crackpot.org...
