I am asking for prayers from my Freeper family. My mother has been (unsuccessfully) battling a decades-old addiction to alcohol. Tuesday night she went to the hospital with a blood alcohol of 3.8. Wednesday night she was rushed to the hospital after drinking as much as she could in addition to taking a bunch of different pills in an effort to kill herself.
I just got a call this morning that her DTs were so bad they had to intubate her and she is on a respirator, which is against her wishes. The hospital did not have her DNR information (her doctor has it, and we are in the process of trying to contact him.
My dad died in 1981, leaving my mom a widow at age 40. She crawled into a bottle and has never come out.
We have suffered through years of her being in and out of rehab, broken promises, deceit, and drunken, rambling phone calls.
I don't even know what kind of prayer I'm asking for. Healing? A peaceful passing? Please don't turn this thread into a right-to-die argument, etc. We just need some comfort right now. Thank you.
heartfelt prayers

Rob, could you please ping your addiction list? Thanks.
May God and his angels right now reach down and touch your mom, you, and every member of your friends and family and give each one strength, hope, guidance, and wisdom.

And to you and your family.
Heartfelt prayers for you and your family.
God, grant you the serenity to accept the things you cannot change, the courage to change the things you can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Amen.

This must be very painful for you and your family. Prayers going up for everyone!
My heart goes out to you. Praying for complete healing for your mom, and strength for you and your family.
Done
God help your mother in her pain.
Prayers up. This must be in the "Thy will be done" category, with prayers that your Mom is reconciled with God. I'm sorry you have to go through this.
Prayers sent from Georgia that your Mother finds respite from her addiction, and for peace for her family that has suffered as a result of that addiction.
Certainly.
If you know of a Charismatic women's prayer group in your area who might be willing to take this need on, I'd sure contact them. Especially if any of them are experienced at deliverance prayers regarding alcoholism.
My prayers, certainly. For wisdom, comfort, direction, forgiveness, deliverance . . . sounds like self-pity is as serious a problem to pray for as the alcoholism.
God be with each of you.
My prayers are with your Mom and your family during this difficult time.
I prayed.
