For what experts say is probably the first time, more American women are living without a husband than with one, according to a New York Times analysis of census results.
In 2005, 51 percent of women said they were living without a spouse, up from 35 percent in 1950 and 49 percent in 2000.
Coupled with the fact that in 2005 married couples became a minority of all American households for the first time, the trend could ultimately shape social and workplace policies, including the ways government and employers distribute benefits.
Several factors are driving the statistical shift. At one end of the age spectrum, women are marrying later or living with unmarried partners more often and for longer periods. At the other end, women are living longer as widows and, after a divorce, are more likely than men to delay remarriage, sometimes delighting in their newfound freedom.
In addition, marriage rates among black women remain low. Only about 30 percent of black women are living with a spouse, according to the Census Bureau, compared with about 49 percent of Hispanic women, 55 percent of non-Hispanic white women and more than 60 percent of Asian women.
In a relatively small number of cases, the living arrangement is temporary, because the husbands are working out of town, are in the military or are institutionalized. But while most women eventually marry, the larger trend is unmistakable.

YIKES!
terrifying indeed.
#19 Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with social religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a religious crutch
Theyve already started this and I think it goes along with #25. Alot of couples work harder and stay together based on thier faith and belief in the bible. Churches anymore do very little it seems to assist familys in staying together. I fear its only going to get worse:(
The women want to tame the beast. They want to mother the wild guys into whatever it is they want in a guy. You would think they would realize that it doesn't always work that way.
I'm not sure how many American women are willing to, uhem, downsize......
There. I fixed it.
That's funny. I was just talking to a friend the other day, and her husband is going through an "It's all about ME" stage. And boy is it! The wife is obviously aware of her husband's flirty nature. However, within weeks of knowing the husband, my husband comes home and says that Mr. Me has quite the roving eye. So the next time I saw Mr. Me, I noticed the same thing. Now, months later, the folks are in marriage counselling because Mr. Me wants life to be about him for a while because life has been all about Mrs. Me and their Me children for the past 13 years. Do I see another one of those 51% women in the future due to this relationship? Maybe. It all depends on whether Mr. Me and Mrs. Me work things out.
If they want some really helpful advice, they should consult The Bible, Ephesians 5:22-33.
They could save some big bucks now spent on counseling.
In fact, make sure your conservative friends know this, because I'm sure most are ignorant to it, thinking this stuff doesn't effect their lives one way or the other.
And share it with your moderate friends. Maybe they'll jump the fence in fear to a more conservative way of thinking. Unless they're completely clueless, who'd want to be associated with the undermining of America like that?
Can't hurt; might help! :)
Michael Medved discussing this article right now. Turns out, the study included all women over 15 years old, not 18 or 20.
But there are lots of exceptions to the rules and perception runs both ways wrongly.
I dont know if youre single, but for the sake of argument, lets say you are. And this isnt just for you but for all the FR guys on here that set standards based on what they "see".
Maybe the reason they arent finding the right girl is because they are make ALOT of assumptions.
Ill give you and example. My sons peer group has only one single mom (Thank goodness) and shell make an ideal example.
Lets say you and a few of your FR buddies decide to stop by a local diner. When you arrive you see two little gals sitting in a corner booth talking. Its summer and you note that one is wearing "hippy sandles" has a tattoo on her ankle, wearing an embelished tunic, smoking a ciggerette. The other is sporting a USA shirt with the american flag. she has no tattos, no ciggerette (that you can see).
Ms flag girl gets up to powder her nose and you hear miss tattoo talking, its obvious that she is speaking with her teenage child.
neither girl is sporting a wedding ring. From what you "see" (and ya'll suggest on here) is a skanky lefty who has a tattoo and smokes, who obviously has a "bastard child" and the "all american" girl sitting with her.
You decide to ask ms flag girl out.
What you find is shes a raging lefty, pro gay marriage, anti church, has 2 children from 2 different dads (never married) smokes, dates guys like they are fast food and swears like a truck driver. she doesnt believe in cooking, cleaning or raising her own kids. she is high maintance. her idea of a "home cooked" meal is fried shrimp and prime rib at that local steak house.
The other one is me. I dont always sport my wedding ring because i often wash dishes by hand and I am hard on jewelry.
You and your Fr buddies would have been wrong on both accounts, simply by making assumptions. Had i been single as well you would have bypassed the conservatvie suzy home maker in favor of ms flag girl.
If all the girls you meet with tattoos follow the rule, youre looking in the wrong places. i bet youll find ALOT of freeper women who have tattoos.
Im just saying..........
An artist?
Perhaps....but more a con artist or pop art artist than one whose work will be shown in museums a few hundred years after his death.
Kinkade is to art, what fantasy is to reality - or in the worse case what rap is to music.
Don't confuse being "popular" with being good....or having a tongue guaranteeing "taste"...
Semper Fi
Thanks, I'll print it out and share:)
I think I will also pass it along to my teenage son. He and most of his friends are quite conservative, but he still tends to think mom gets too "tin foil hatty". This will help LOL
Im sure if I email it to him, hell pass it along to his friends too. one of the boys parents are big Al Gore fans, maybe hell share it with his folks!
Boys and girls, today's word is: Non-sequitur.
I think there's plenty of assertive women that nonetheless respect the institution of marriage.
My son thinks I'm nuts, too. But then I thought my folks were nuts when I was 19 too, so it all evens out eventually. :)
mines only 14!
His favorite thing to say is "oh mom, everything is a conspiracy with you"
Wait til he gets a load of the article. I might have to get him a toin foil hat;)
Oh they pay! They tried to extract #980 a month from me for one child
Mike Medved is discussing this as the topic of his show today.
Half the problem here is that the institution of marriage is basically meaningless today. Its just a legal instrument, its no longer a sacrament
"Wait 'til he gets a load of the article. I might have to get him a tin foil hat. ;)"
Well, at least they're cheap and easy to make. Metal colanders work well, too. *SMIRK*
I enjoyed that so much I read it twice. You did a great job of never judge a book by its cover.
Skanky lefties, raging leftys, conservative susie homemaker, hippy sandles.
OMG LOL thanks for the colander visual!
Thanks:)
Hopefully some of the FR guys on here will see that not all conservative girls "look conservative" and not all leftys look like cindy sheeman!
I liked the Colander as well!
The colenders are a bit pricey, but they more than make up for the cost in style!
