WASHINGTON -- Attorneys for a Marine based at Camp Pendleton charged in the killing of Iraqi civilians in Haditha want the U.S. military to look into the leak of an investigative report to the news media.
The Washington Post published photos and information from the investigative file this month that had not previously been made public, one showing five Iraqis sprawled near a taxi.
"This leak was inexcusable and unethical and very clearly presents a publicly unfavorable portrait of our client," lawyers for Staff Sgt. Frank D. Wuterich wrote.
Wuterich is one of two Marines charged with murder in the five deaths.
The lawyers asked Marine Lt. Gen. James Mattis to have the Naval Criminal Investigative Service find out who leaked the investigative report to the newspaper.
The impact of the leak, Wuterich's lawyers said, could taint the integrity of any court-martial proceeding.
The Haditha investigation stemming from the Nov. 19, 2005, killings is the biggest U.S. criminal case involving civilian deaths so far in the Iraq war.
My neighbor had a leg lamp....Ovaltine! Got milk?
BTW...I wrote my favorite, earmarked Marine's lawyer. He's a good guy! I wonder what they will think when they get the thank you notes? They are a teensie bit busy.
Thanks, just emailed!
I posted the story about an hour after it broke. There's already more than 100 sources that have picked it up. I figured it'd be ignored. This could end up being very big news. You can see them the search results on Google at the link.
GOOD on you, Red Rover!!!
WOW!!!!!
"Darn Golden Globes...is that where everyone is?" Not, me. We were watching "24". Should be required viewing for all Americans.
No one's ever too busy to hear the thanks of a grateful citzenry.
Not a bad idea being that he is so cocksure it wasn't NCIS that leaked the report. His reply sounded like a man that was talking from the wrong end of his anatomy.
I did see this item about the leak on the news ticker on Fox earlier. I'll be blown down by a feather if it shows up on any of the traitorous MSM stations however.
Fire those boilers up Red. We can only hope the FBI will take a very serious look at this. If only a few lower then whale shit leakers could start to get jail sentences perhaps the free for all would slow down.
RED,
Thank you for allowing me to be a better American. :)
(no that is not sarcasm)
Thank you Red and freema for the headsup on this, the news is going out nationwide
I agree...24 hands out alarming lessons to learn from.
Let's hope this story gets wide circulation and that the NCIS feels the heat to find and punish the leaker. Denying our Marines an impartial hearing should not be fun and games for legal weasels in Washington.
See post 43 above. Some local alphabet news affiliates are picking it up. Don't know about the national MSM.
Do you suggest we email Ed at NCIS at the new and old address? Didn't he say it "got sent over to him" and I take that as his peers seeing he is being pressured on the leak issue having to fwd his email?
Initially, I just sent e-mails to every address I could find on the NCIS website. Mr Buice wrote me back from the address I gave. I'm not posting any personal information, naturally. Seems like a generic address that, hopefully, Ed checks.
"Hello, I'm Mr. Buice (picture a Monty Python cartoon character with a fadora speaking out of the side of its mouth) I have some swampland I'de like to sell you in Florida. Oh, and I bought everyone at the NCIS a pack of DEPENDS so there wouldn't be any more leaks."
Seriously, this story brought tears of joy. I've heard stories of too much hell for too many good people and this is definately one for the good guys!
Hold their feet to the fire everyone!
Godspeed and Night Night!
my friend, that was the best picture of her I had.....
If she wins I'm done for...she'll take out the women and children first.
Good night Flyer...
