No link yet...
Yes, this is the main Shawn thread, but I have been postin on all of them. Sady one is now gone due to a jerk who think that since when he was 11 and figured he could have gotten away from Devil, than Shawn should have. pathetic!
sure!
"Yes, this is the main Shawn thread"
Well if that is the case I will repost from another thread. It seems there a large number of good-hearted FR folks that are intensely interested in this story.
bless your heart! So far no one I know personally have those views. My husband totally agrees with me as well as my mother, sister's and extended family.
What these people don't understand is Shawn was all of our kids. He was a normal kid, but they want to see that something must have been wrong with him cause he wanted to stay with Devil.
So sad.
About the other thread being pulled...too bad, cause I was about to post a question to you. You were talking about your two nephews and what they're like, and I was about to post the question, do they carry around baseball bats in case they need to whack a monster-sized pedophile over the head? But when I hit "post", the thread was gone. LOL
I think you have nailed the situation. Yes, they and their kids are "above and beyond" that sort of thing. Unreal.
i actually saw your question and was responding when it got pulled, lol!
And my answer was no. My nephew who is 13 shot and killed a buck while hunting with his daddy last weekend. But on a regular day you could catch this normal boy rding his bike with no baseball bat in hand.
The "deflecting their fears" part is more like the deeper motive behind their "above it all" posture. The two things kind of fit together like a hand in a glove.
BOR has that same mentality. He's always talking in general terms about how the culture is going to h*** in a handbasket, then he turns around and wants to find a way to blame Shawn IN PARTICULAR for being with Devlin for 4+ years. Indicating he thinks MOST 11 yr old kids would NOT have reacted that way, only this one and maybe a few others, and the one who did obviously has something about him and his family to CRITICIZE.
BOR should educate his ignorant self and buy a clue.
I think that article written by Michael Reagan (the link is on the previous page here I think) really helps to explain why kids don't tell what happened to them and don't "escape" their abuser.
I hope to write to the boys sometime next week, if I get over this bad cold I've been fighting!
Interesting. It really doesn't surprise me at all. As I have thought about what these kids endured, I have imagined some kind of taping or photos being involved. May God bless and heal these kids! And may that rotten Devil rot in jail and in hell too.
Well, that's good to know, that it was seen before everything got zapped. I had no idea.
Could be the troubler on there meant that at sometime in 4+ years Shawn could have hit the guy over the head. But he made it sound like he meant right when the kidnapping happened. So that's how I went with it.
As for the years going by, by that time this poor child was in very, very deep and felt he had extremely compelling reasons to remain with this guy until someone found him and rescued him.
On the thread about his reporting a missing bike to the police, has anyone thought (whether it was missing or not) that the child might have hoped the police would realize he was Shawn and rescue him?? And when the cops did no such thing, it made him feel even more "under the control" of Devlin?
I think that is what I find so offensive about many of the "Uber Freepers" (I think that was Bonnie's term). They always like to think they are ooooooohhhhh sooooooohhhh above everyone else. I always try to think, "There but for the grace of God go I." My kids are from a stable, loving, two-parent home. They are all straight-A students and are constantly praised by their teachers and principals. Until they hit 13, they were never allowed to go anywhere on their own. I still think this could have just as easily happened to any of my sons and, while I would like to think they would try to contact me, I can't say for sure that they would. None of us knows what our kids would do for certain.
who knows what that guy ment, but if he ment Shawn should have picked up a baseball bat at anytime to get away that is not what I got from what he was saying, but nonetheless. No one can say Shawn could have or should have done something to get away from Devlin unless they have gone through the exact same thing.
Thank you!
Yes, I was thinking the exact same thing. He may have reported the bike missing hoping the police would recognize him and rescue him. Imagine how hopeless he would have felt when the police--the good guys, the powerful guys--wouldn't help him.
According to the article about the missing bike, they did not report Shawn's bike missing. Another bike in the neighborhood was reported missing. After the officer took that report and was leaving, someone told him about Shawn's situaton. The officer then went to speak to the "Devlins." Notice plural?
