I think that article written by Michael Reagan (the link is on the previous page here I think) really helps to explain why kids don't tell what happened to them and don't "escape" their abuser.

That article is spot on regarding the reaction a child has to the fear and shame ~ that keeps them quiet about what they are enduring. Should be required reading for every single talking head on the TV and radio, especially BOR!
