Yes, that would be the ONLY justification for not putting them to death, or being lenient with their jail time, the perverted, twisted logic which would then see the exploited child as a potential "orphan".

Seriously, do we know if this is an instance of Sharia law and that is why the judiciary didn't want to impose a REAL SENTENCE - so as not to offend anyone?!

The man, 56, was sentenced to three and a half years' imprisonment for child rape, serious sexual exploitation of a minor, exploitation of a child for sexual poses and serious child pornography offences. No name mentioned. Wanna bet it's not Bjorn or Olaf? Or anything vaguely Swedish?

"The latter girl reported the man to the police last August, accusing him of assaulting her repeatedly when she was aged between nine and eleven."
Is the verdict based on testimonies like this or on actual evidence like film material depicting the very act?
If no such evidence exists, I smell witch-trial.

This is from a country where legitimate spanking of your kids is illegal, and parents who exercise that option are likely to be charged with child abuse.Yeah, but I hear that you're only given a sentance of a 20 minute time out, and sent to bed without dessert for abusing your child there...

Hey, come on now, they have to do some time or people might think that Europe doesn't consider adult-child sex to be much of a problem!

Two years for rape...sounds about on par for our civilized brothers in Western Europe. Isn't the average time served for murder like 10 years in Sweden? That's a lot harsher than Vermont - a pedophile's heaven!

Yes, sexual abuse of children is a very disturbig thing, but so is adult ignorance.
Apparently, you failed to realize the underlying reality of these words;
"The latter girl reported the man to the police last August, accusing him of assaulting her repeatedly when she was aged between nine and eleven."
Is the verdict based on testimonies like this or on actual evidence like film material depicting the very act?

- In fact, several Swedish men have been convicted of acts of incest which they are, most likely, NOT guilty of.
This is a matter that lately has been brought much attention to in my home country, even though journalists and other investigators are very careful not to cause any damage to the reputation of the affected COURTS.
