America's Secular Jihadists: Atheists on the Offensive

Just a few months ago, I thought it was insulting to be called a “theocrat.” I was wrong. “Theocrat” is almost a compliment compared to what the Left is calling Christians now.

According to a New York Times review, we Christians are fascists—that’s what the Nazis were. And if we’re not stopped, we’ll try to take over America. It’s an illustration of how vicious the invective has become against faithful Christians.

“Of course there are Christian fascists in America,” writes Rick Perlstein in the New York Times Sunday Book Review. How else, for example, to explain the cadres who took former Chief Justice Roy Moore’s Ten Commandments monument on tour?

Perlstein was reviewing the latest in the recent crop of hate books about the Christian faith, this one titled, American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America, written by Chris Hedges. He details all the wacky killings, like the Aryan brotherhood over the last twenty-five years, and then concludes by saying that Christians are about to do the same thing. Talk about guilt by association.

The really dangerous thing here is that, by writing this kind of stuff, they are likely to embolden some nut to start shooting pastors and Christian leaders.

Perlstein was honest enough to admit that there has been no violence from Christians lately—but he reminds us that there used to be, and may be again, driven by all those violent Left Behind books.

Gee, what a backhanded compliment! We’re not as bad as we used to be—or will be in the future.

American Fascists is just the latest book in a long line of anti-Christian literature to hit the best-seller lists—all reviewed and promoted by the New York Times. Richard Dawkins, who wrote The God Delusion, suggests that the government may have to stop parents from sharing their religious beliefs with their kids, calling it a form of child abuse.

What’s behind this witch hunt? Two things.

First, it’s an effort to drive Christians out of public debates, like abortion and same-sex “marriage,” and sadly, there are signs it might be working.

Second, as Sam Schulman noted last week in the Wall Street Journal, atheists are trying to move heaven and earth (so to speak) to destroy belief in God.

In the Victorian age, it was atheists who were gentlemen, rather civilized, though held in low public regard. Today, atheists are trying to turn the tables: turning religious faith into “a cause for personal embarrassment.”

To the new atheists, religious belief is both misguided and contemptible, “the mark of people who need to be told how to think and how to vote,” Schulman writes. Belief in God is “a form of stupidity”—or so they say.

But the faith these atheists present is a parody of the faith that thousands have given their lives for, and for causes like ending the slave trade and human rights causes today. Look over the history of Western civilization, as Rodney Stark, the great sociologist, writes, and you’ll see that Christianity has been the source of all the great reforms and advances of Western civilization.

The best response to these attacks, of course, is just a loving assertion of the truth and a renewed effort to silence the critics by doing good.

And in the midst of these best-selling books that try to embarrass us out of our faith, we ought to remember the words of the Apostle Paul: “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for all those who believe.”

Since he teaches in Britain, Richard Dawkins is one of the "foreign" in the phrase "enemies foreign and domestic." He and Mr. Perlstein must have a lot of hate in them to believe as they do.

Be ready folks. the first step in perpetraiting a genocide is to demonize your victims. Just ask the Tutsi survivors from Rwanda, who found that Hutus had been passing around tracts that made them out to literally be demonic. I guess calling a whole religion a new movement of Nazis fits in that same category.

Atheists will be damned to the hell of their own creation, in this world and in the next.

They havent a clue (or are criminally willfully ignorant) of what happens when the moral restraint of religion is removed. Their brethren the communists killed a hundred million people. How many will these delusional atheists be responsible for ???

Yes, they definitely are, both evos and the sort of libertarians I call "penisterians."* A few days ago Coyoteman said that Creationists are trying to take over the government and replace the Republic with a theocracy, after which they will ban many forms of scientific research. He "proved" this by quoting the statement of faith of the Creation Research Institute, a document that never mentions politics or government. (Hardly the Waffen SS marching into Paris, is it?) A couple of weeks ago, Libertarian Schmoe told me he could show that "theocrats" expect to be able to control the sex lives of the population with laws governing bedroom behavior, but I'm still waiting for an example. Last year when the series "Book of Daniel" was being protested, Central Scrutiniser told me that Christians are violating his rights if they write a network and ask that a show's content be less offensive. When I asked him to show me backup for that in the Constitution, he accused me of being a stalker and a fascist.

That's just three off the top of my head, but those are just the most memorable at this time. Plenty more. There are quite a few atheists on this board who are nice folks and are everything a conservative should be, but there are some others who see science as Sharia with test tubes.

Penisterian: A person who claims to be a libertarain, but is outside the liberatarian fold due to their wish to withhold Constitutional freedoms from social conservatives. Their reverence for "Mr. Happy" causes them to exhibit a paranoid belief that conservatives (and Christians in particular) want to use the law to control their sex lives. Females exhibiting these qualities are rare, and are referred to as "vulvaterians."

That's the frightening thing -- "just a few months ago." Things move awfully fast nowadays. Isn't it only a few years ago that gay marriage was almost universally considered a ridiculous notion?

If Christians, with their faith in a sovereign triune God Who orders all things according to His will, have no right to participate in public debate, then what right do secularists, - with their far more absurd faith in random chance with no unifying principle - have likewise to participate?

Why do even Christians buy into this silly notion that Christianity is faith-based and secularism/atheism is not? Wherefore does the atheist get a pass instead of being demanded to account for the very order in the universe he must presuppose to even make a coherent sentence? Hmmmm?

I have seen several instances of "theocrat" used here on FreeRepublic.

We have this new Rosie O'Donnell wing of the Republican Party who equates the Christians with the Taliban.

Make no mistake about it, the "holy grail" of the Left is their homosexual perversion. Anything that refutes the Judaic book of Genesis furthers that cause in their warped minds.

They do hate the Christians, but Christians are just their convenient politically correct proxy for their unfashionable hatred of observant Jews and Judaism.

'It is by their fruit(s) you shall know them.' (pun intended)

Revelation 12:12:

Ephesians 6:10-12:

10 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

The concept of principalities is understood by the Greek word arche meaning chief or ruler. These principalities are ruling devil spirits possessing executive authority or governmental rule in the world. As we will see, this ruling power usually involves a particular nation, people or race. There are evil angels ruling the kingdoms of the world that oppose the truth of God, and of which Satan is the chief prince or ruler, of both the world system and its organization of demons, as noted in the gospel of Matthew.

As bad as this is, we are only taking the first steps into the last days of this age as was explained to us by Jesus. The people who are allowing themselves to be used by Satan to rid the world of God, and God's people, will not stop what they are doing, and indeed will get worse and worse as the end times progress.

Antichrist cannot come to power until all vestiges of God, and especially the Person of the Holy Spirit, are wiped off the planet. All this demonization of Christians, and by extension, Christ, is prophesized to happen and will continue to happen until those who have rejected Christ during this current age of grace are no longer burdened by the irritating possibility of a God of righteousness and holiness, and are ready for their "god", a "god" who loves sin just as much as they do and "governs" in a climate of rampant rebellion and sin. They will finally have a "god" that they can worship.

The good news is that this means that the return of Christ is very near. This earth will go through it's judgment, and then will be reclaimed by the One who created it. Everything will be made right and whole again.

Just hang on.

I think David Horowitz's "Unholy Alliance" better explains the situation. In short, the hard left believes in the inevitability of worldwide socialism. A strong US delays the inevitable. Thus, the US must be weakened even if it means a victory for islamofascism. As for the muzzies turning on the socialists, not to worry as the muzzies will be converted to socialism and not kill their fellow lefties. Oh, and since Christians worship God rather than the state, they must be neutralized of course, and by any means.

They hardly resemble useful idiots, they know what they do.
