Comet McNaught: Brightest Comet in 30 Years On Display Tonight
.
The brightest comet in thirty years may be able to be seen by the naked eye tonight. Comet McNaught is plunging toward the sun, and the heat is causing it to brighten dramatically. A few days ago, it was barely visible in evening twilight, but now it pops into view while the sky is still glowing blue. Only Venus is brighter.
BBS News is reporting that Comet McNaught has continued to brighten as it approaches the sun and it is now the brightest comet in 30 years.
.
The astrological significance of comets has been the subject of much study, but so far no definite conclusions have been reached. Suggestion has been advanced that Donate's comet, which made its first appearance of record in June 1858 and attained its maximum brilliancy on October 9th, was a factor in the nativity of Theodore Roosevelt, born October 27, 1858. It is presumed that comets presage history-making events; but operating through individuals whose birth coincides with their appearance, their effects are so delayed as often to be overlooked.
"When beggars die there are no comets seen; The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes." - Shakespeare.
The year of F. D. Roosevelt's birth was also marked by the appearance of one of the brightest comets of record, which was visible in broad daylight - even at noon.
WIKIPEDIA: They were usually considered bad omens of deaths of kings or noble men, or coming catastrophes. From ancient sources, such as Chinese oracle bones, it is known that their appearances have been noticed by humans for millennia. One very famous old recording of a comet is the appearance of Halley's Comet on the Bayeux Tapestry, which records the Norman conquest of England in AD 1066.[2]
Thanks, again.
We lost some really fine moonbats on that day!
Attention Art Bell and George Noory...pack your bags!

If this poor comet falls into the Sun, it's Bush's fault!;)
Did Nancy Reagan's old astrologer call the White House before the speech was scheduled??
I saw it on the drive home tonight! As I drove west out of Sacramento about 5:30, it was right in front of me. There were clouds, primarily, but low in the horizon it was clear. It was still dusk, but the coma of the comet and the tail were easily seen. The tail was longer than Hale-Bopp, and the overall comet was brighter as well.
Check out this great image from Duluth, Minn.(Jan 10th)

why didn't you call me? LOL
Great pic. I didn't see it this evening. Looked like a lot of smoke to the west over the hills above Vacaville. The head of the comet is very distinct. I don't recall ever seeing one that distinct. Hope it's visible in the morning next week.

Celestial omens indeed.
1 Hear the word which the LORD speaks to you, O house of Israel.
2 Thus says the LORD:
Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, For the Gentiles are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the peoples are futile; For one cuts a tree from the forest, The work of the hands of the workman, with the ax.
4 They decorate it with silver and gold; They fasten it with nails and hammers So that it will not topple.
5 They are upright, like a palm tree, And they cannot speak; They must be carried, Because they cannot go. Do not be afraid of them, For they cannot do evil, Nor can they do any good.
***
They cannot do evil, nor can they do any good, theyre inert.
