Kansas Abortion Prosecutor Fired
NewsMax ^ | 10 January 2007

Posted on 01/09/2007 10:33:23 PM PST by Aussie Dasher

The newly elected Kansas attorney general fired a special prosecutor Tuesday whom his predecessor had appointed to prosecute the state's most visible abortion provider.

Don McKinney had been hired to investigate Dr. George Tiller, one of the few doctors in the nation to perform late-term abortions. McKinney has previously protested outside Tiller's clinic. His last day will be Saturday.

"You are further ordered to cease and desist any further activity in this matter," Attorney General Paul Morrison wrote in a letter to McKinney.

McKinney said he had been fired to "protect the abortion clinics."

"Morrison said he would fire me because I was not a 'neutral third party.' That's a smoke screen," McKinney said. "Nobody is neutral about aborting late-term babies. A special prosecutor isn't supposed to be neutral, he's supposed to prosecute the defendant." He has said Morrison was beholden to the doctor, who helped finance at least $248,000 in advertising in 2002 and 2006 against the previous attorney general, Phill Kline.

Kline obtained patient records from Tiller and other abortion providers after a two-year legal battle, but his attempt to charge Tiller in Sedwick County late last month failed because of a jurisdiction issue.

Kline alleges that Tiller performed 15 illegal late-term abortions in 2003 on patients ages 10 to 22 and failed to properly report the details of the procedures to state health officials.

Tiller's attorneys say the allegations are groundless. Don Monnat, a Wichita attorney representing Tiller, said patient privacy remains a big concern because McKinney has protested against the doctor.

A legal battle over patient records lasted two years, with Kline obtaining edited versions in October. Kline issued a statement Tuesday saying Morrison "fired an independent prosecutor with a well-respected legal career and terminated a contract that provided that prosecutor with independent authority."

Of course, Kline's reelection was of paramount importance, as he was our best hope of getting a Conservative Republican Governor in 4 years.

Our best hope? I wasn't aware that Phill was going to run for governor in Tennessee. As for Kansas, thanks but we'll be just fine. We've got a number of conservatives in the legislature, Ron Thornburgh may be talked into running, it'll be an interesting election in 2010.

Your non-vote was as good as a vote for the fraud Morrison, I'm sure you realize that.

Phill lost by about 150,000 votes, but of course it's all my fault. Still, having lost twice and after accepting the Johnson County DA spot Phill's political career is over. Maybe y'all will have a spot for him out there in 2008?

Yes, our best hope. For Conservative Republicans. Kansas is not an island, neither is Tennessee. And as I already pointed out, you seem not too concerned by the fact that one hasn't been elected there in 42 years, so Kansas is anything but fine. Now with Socialist trash like GilliganSebelius and RINO traitor apostate infanticide protectors like Morrison and the garbage being appointed to the KS benches. Nope, not fine at all.

Yes, it is your fault, along with the other fools who either deliberately or unintentionally supported Morrison with their votes or non-votes. Johnson County is damn lucky to have him, especially to replace that human debris Morrison. If KS doesn't want him in the future, send him down to TN, we could use a good man like him. People of conscience in politics are in short supply these days.

We elect our judges. I hope you have a better understanding of Tennessee than the other states you poke your nose into.

About two thirds of the voters here would disagree with you. That's how many voted against Phill in Johnson County. And Morrison was a pretty good prosecutor. He built up a good record, put together a great staff of ADAs, and Phill's booting about a third of them. If he makes it through his two years without getting tossed out I'll be mildly surprised.

If KS doesn't want him in the future, send him down to TN, we could use a good man like him. People of conscience in politics are in short supply these days.

You're welcome to him. Maybe it isn't that we here in Kansas are all that enamored with abortion or Paul Morrison but instead we're not willing to return a dope to office? Phill Kline with his inept performance has done more to set back the pro-life cause in this state than anything Morrison will be able to do.

I was referring to the GilliganSebelius hacks ending up on the KS Supreme Court (Eric Rosen). And I'm well informed on most of our states, thank you. Last time I checked, Kansas doesn't belong to you. ;-)

"About two thirds of the voters here would disagree with you. That's how many voted against Phill in Johnson County."

So what ? That just proves he's better than the people of his constituency. Too bad to see Johnson County is becoming another Wyandotte.

Good for Kline, he's cleaning out the trash. Too bad we similarly didn't clean up the US Justice Dept when Dubya came in. Never trust rodent lawyers, period.

I don't know who you're talking about, but Kline was surely one of the finest state AGs in the nation. Having seen him speak, I was mightily impressed by him. KS is going to regret tossing him out for a lying abortionist apologist trash.

Thank-you for speaking up for Kansas, we are royally screwed. The blood of these innocents will continue to cry out for justice, and who will be their voice now? God help us

Yup, not only (alas) is our new AG a demonRAT, but his campaign warchest was filled with a donation of over half a million from Tiller the Killer.

There's obviously a load of money in the baby-killing business. No wonder the scumbag Democrats work so hard to protect the baby-killing industry - - it's their gravy train.

"How did they lie?"

They said that he was looking into womens personal medical records. Morrison's campaign repeated that. I called his campaign personally and that is what they told me.
The facts were that the records sought were on the abortion clinics and the womens (and underage girls) names were redacted by the courts before being given to the AG. That was in the court filings.
SO, they lied purposefully and maliciously. Tiller used PAC fronts to send out hundreds of thousands of dollars in false advertising. This has been reported both in the Topeka Capital Journal and the Lawrence Journal World. Now he is trying to kill the investigation of what is, by court records, proven to be a crime committed by his sponsor.
Morrison is corrupt. The Feds should investigate his ties to Tiller.

See #94 but first see #90. You seem unbothered by Morrison being a stooge financed by the nation's single most notorious child killer but awfully offended by the mere possibility that communist supported stooges in Chile, not thankful for the freedom of their nation, wanted to claim embezzlement by Pinochet. Is embezzlement an equivalent of the butchery of innocent children, never conceding for a moment that the unfiled charges might have validity? It is quite clear that Morrison is the public official layer of protection of Tiller's lucrative baby-murdering racket. It is good to know that when he facilitates the killing of little children, he will not be masquerading as a conservative OR as a Republican.

Supporters of unconstitutional marauder Abe (like Allende the choice of less than 40% of the voters in his first election) live in glass houses and ought not throw stones.

Have you answered as to John Brown and Potowatomie Creek yet???? To refresh your recollection, John Brown and his fanatic family and fellow trash, dragged Kansas farmers and homesteaders of Southern origin from their homes in front of their families to hack them to death for the presumed "crime" of disagreeing with John Brown. Later, Brown was apprehended at Harper's Ferry, Virginia, by US Marines under the command of then Colonel Robert E. Lee, assisted by J.E.B. Stuart, tried (unlike his Kansas victims), convicted and hanged by his miserable neck for the actual crime of trying to arm Virginia slaves with rifles in peacetime (the James Buchanan administration) in order to trigger a violent slave rebellion. Some of Brown's evil spawn were slain at the Harper's Ferry arsenal (which he had seized). Others were executed with him.

Reagan's administration was not favorable to the communist soulmates of Allende. That you have difficulty with anything comes as no surprise.

Again, see #94.

If you succeed, then by all means get back to me and I will re-evaluate my judgment of your character and ideology. Not until.
