"That's not what being gay is about," he said. "Being gay is about loving men, and love is not the most pervasive thing on those publications or Web sites."

...and most of the guys said, "it's so gay here, it's even too gay for me! We may as well change the name from San Francisco to 'Penisville'".

But many have told him it is difficult to meet other gay men outside of sexual encounters or to connect on an emotional or friendship level. "Over and above, people were saying they really have this longing for a sense of community (and) that they feel everything is fractured, that everybody is paranoid, and nobody is having fun," he said.

So, all these "gay" men have realized that their lives are unfulfilled, they have no normal emotional relationships and no sense of place. WHO CAN BE SURPRISED BY THIS?? When you define yourself by a deviant behavior, what exactly do you expect??
