The authorities KNOW this as a jumper cliff? It should have been bulldozed long ago to prevent an accident/suicide/murder.
Rest in Peace for this young man.
A disturbed theater student from the NC School of the Arts jumped off a cliff on the mountain behind my parents' house when I was a teenager. It was eerie, with the spotlights, rescue crews and helicopters. You couldn't bulldoze that thing, it's about 300 feet of quartzite.
Huh? Why is the gov'ts responsibility to worry about such things.
Obviously, you're completely unfamiliar with both the Palos Verdes Peninsula and the entire California coastline. There are hundreds of miles of "jumper cliffs." The only thing that made this one notable is the large nearby population and its easy accessibility. Bulldozing it would be impossible, and blockading it would merely send jumpers a mile either way.
Not trying to be an AH, but how many cliffs would meet the criteria you would support bulldozing? The cliff ain't the problem.
The authorities know that the Golden Gate Bridge is a jumper bridge because they only have 4 feet rails. I heard the other day how many suicides are commited off that bridge and it boggles the mind. Do you think they will make the rails higher. NO!
Would you also have the Golden Gate Bridge dismantled? From what I understand there averages about a suicide a week from there.
Should we bulldoze the world flat cause someone wants to committ suicide? That reasoning sounds just like those who think banning firearms to prevent suicide is a good idea. Have you ever considered that they will just pick another way. It is called subsitution. Plus if someone wants to really committ suicide you can not prevent it.
