PRESIDENT BUSH WILL NOMINATE ZALMAY KHALILZAD -- AN AFGHAN MUSLIM CURRENTLY SERVING AS AMBASSADOR TO IRAQ -- AS THE NEW U.S. AMBASSADOR TO THE U.N., ABC NEWS IS REPORTING... DEVELOPING...
Romans 1 mentions people deserving death--all human creatures are deserving of death--but the passage does not exhort Christians to go out and murder such people.
Nothing. See post 22. Then apologize.
Yep. Big time. Will they shoot down the confirmation of a Muslim?
See post 22.
Already did.
Post 37.
That's exactly what Osama bin Laden wants you to think.
I agree, however:
This guy's (Khalizad) OK from what I know about him. Now that I remember who he is and all.
Precisely!
The Islamist fanatics out there would LOVE it if the West were to be stupid enough to expand the War on Terror from a fractured minority of the Muslim world to over a BILLION potential enemies.
All the idiots calling for Crusade are playing directly into the hands of our true enemies.
I loved Ronaldus Maximus. I think he was the greatest president I will ever know and I count seeing him at the Republican convention in N.O. as an inestimable honor- BUT-
when it came to trusting this( or any other) Muslim( however far he did) then yes, he was wrong.
He wasn't infallible or perfect- neither is W.
Trusting Muslims is suicide-politically and personally.
So I guess I don't have to be 'outed' as anti-Muslim. It's a no-brainer; belonging to aa death cult that wants the world to submit or die cancels out EVERY other aspect of individual personality, in my opinion.
Can any of us imagine an American-during WW2- saying they were not 'Nazi haters', but had no reason to trust them?
And Islam's death count FAR outnumbers Hitlers.
There were no 'good Nazis'.
There are no 'good Muslims'.
I usually am.
However, modern Christianity, as a whole, has proven they are civilized.
Not the point. You can't claim that Islam is uncivilized by pointing out their holy book without examining the contents of Christianity's holy book, either.
But that's not the point, either. Let's stipulate that Islam is uncivilized. Let's say, in fact, that 99.99% of Muslims want to see America destroyed in a hail of nuclear fire. That wouldn't in the slightest excuse prejudging somebody because he is a Muslim. He might be a member of the 0.01%, and it's an injustice to unfairly accuse him. Ironically, this is especially true because Islam is barbaric... barbaric to the point where apostacy is a death sentence. Muslims who do not adhere to their own religion risk being brutally executed should they recant; Muslims effectively have guns pointed to their heads.
Khalilzad is a good man, a capable man, a man who clearly loves his country. But you didn't care to learn this, you just saw the word "Muslim" and immediately assumed the worst of him. You prejudged him. You are a bigot.
That's true, as far as it goes. But successful attacks against American targets outside the geographical US have been more numerous. And when you add in their actions toward the Jews, they make the KKK look like Boy Scouts.
Sounds like a decent choice! I would also like President Bush to reward many losing '06 GOP conservatives with positions in the Bush administration including positions for Michael Steele and Rick Santorum.
I think he happens to be the most qualified. And perhaps a good example to those like myself who learned not to trust muslims after 9/11.
Before 9/11, I never gave muslims much thought. Since then, I have watched muslims cheer over deaths in falluja, commit murerdous acts, terrorize, whine, complain, etc., ya'll on FR have seen the same images I have.
Maybe, if other muslims follow his patriotic example, we can learn to trust again. (I said maybe)
I could not agree more. I would love to see those two great men get jobs too.
Khalilzad is a good man. I acknowledged that, once I remembered who he was.
Tell me something. If you were on an airplane and 5 Muslims got on right in front of you, can you HONESTLY tell me you wouldn't feel at least a little bit nervous?
Intimidation is not terrorism? One of the main definitions of terrorism is intimidation. Terrorism doesn't have to be violent, often the threat of violence is terrorism. Do you think that an attack on our government computer systems wouldn't be terrorism?
It was SPAIN that did that, ie the Spaniards. That is why the Mexican People speak Spanish and not English.
Have spent most of the day listening to Andrew Wilkow and Mike Church on Sirius Radio. Thank God I'm a Patriot. They are convinced that Bush will become a Lib on just about anything Congress throws his way just to get the illegals citizenship. The item that will bring down his legacy and our country will be the illegal amnesty and their access to Social Security.
The only thing that we will have on our side is the 2nd Amendment. It is the reset button for the Constitution.
