Amazing, isn't it - when research for stem cells for cures is a noble liberal cause but drug research is villianized by the left - I'm waiting for Moore's new film on the evils of drug companies and their research.

...it will take "years" to complete construction of the centers and draw
top scientists and researchers to staff them.

I suspect that places like Jersey (and even more so, Missouri) will
find it tough going recruiting when California is staffing up
for ESC research.

And yet:

Excerpt:

The newest building on UMDNJ's Newark campus is a nine-story structure emblazoned with distinctive red signs identifying it as the New Jersey Medical School/University Hospital Cancer Center.

It includes vast expanses of glass, state-of-the-art research labs, underground vaults for linear accelerators used in cancer treatment, and an outdoor garden for patients.

But no cancer treatment is going on. There are no doctors, no clinical services and no patients. While some researchers have moved in, more than half the building remains empty.

Christopher Paladino, a former university trustee, said there was never a real plan for the cancer center. He said millions were spent without benefit of any economic feasibility studies, or any examination of whether the center would actually bring in patients.

What a total waste of money and time.

There is NO HOPE with EMBRYONIC STEM CELLS!

It's just going to be an expensive disappointment murdering little human beings. PP will probably profit from this in some way - since they're already in the baby killing business.

"But even one of the leading advocates cautioned results will not come quickly. Wise Young, a physician and chairman of the Department of Cell Biology and Neuroscience at Rutgers University in Piscataway, said it will take "years" to complete construction of the centers and draw top scientists and researchers to staff them."

Sounds like the Great Dig already to be filled with arrogant, egotistical numb nuts.

Will the voters hold anyone to account when, in 10 years or so, money continues to go down that black hole of embryonic stem cell research with nothing to show for it?

Might I assume that the article is talking about fetal stem cells, not adult stem cells, etc?

Perhaps they could combine Medicaid-funded abortion clinics next to the "research" facilities... I mean, gosh, the research facility will be much more pleasing to the eye than the dumpster that normally goes there....
