Chuck Hagel Tests the Presidential Waters.
He will find them cold and unaccommodating.

Well, Hagel's on my list. Just in front of Linc Chaffee.
To: RockinRight
Well I'd definitely support you, before I supported him. Hell, I'd support you over McCagel, his alter ego.

No thanks. Although Chuck's entry into the race will further muddy the waters for the RINO/liberal wing of the party.
When did the RINO/liberal wing become pro-tax cut and anti-big government spending, not to mention pro-gun and pro-life? Senator Hagel is, in my opinion the candidate for traditional conservatives and libertarians. Hunter and/or Tancredo are the candidates for protectionists, Brownback for the Christian Right (though there's a fair degree of overlap there), and McCain and Giuliani are the neo-con/moderate/RINO candidates.

If this guy gets the nomination, I'll not only sit out the '08 election, I'll give up on politics forever.

You mean nominating small government conservative such as Hmmm..Jimmy Carter? Yeah, I can see the similarities.
Geez, do I always have to use the sarcasm tag? Some people are so dense.
To: MinnesotaLibertarian
Doesn't Hagel have a big drawback in that he's an idiot, to put it mildly?
To: MinnesotaLibertarian
I showed the Democrats that I can help them. I stuck it to my president when he needed me most, etc, but, hey, no one will notice it that much. These are different times.

Traditional Smaller Governemtn Conservatism is not in conflict with the "Christian right" (though there are more than Christians that discribe themselves as "social conservatives".
Don't forget RR was both!
Why do we need to pick one over the other: With all due respect lets skip those whom want to divide the conservative movement and pick someone whom can represent ALL forms of RR Conservative..
On Hagel, I'll Pass for now..

Yet another Senator gazing with deep adoration upon the figure in the mirror. In 120 years, there have been TWO sitting Senators elected to the Presidency (Kennedy in 1960 and Harding in 1920--before that Benjamin Harrison). There are good reasons for this.

Be better to just test the waters, that is all the chance you got ole buddie, it is amazing that these folks think they are so popular when they are not.

I agree. Chuck Hagel is a social conservative, just not an extreme social conservative in the mold of Brownback or Santorum. That's why I am encouraging other libertarians to support his candidacy, because he will also appeal to traditional (non-neo) conservatives.
