Court Allows Suit Against Air America Tuesday January 2, 5:24 pm ET Bankruptcy Court Allows Lawsuit Against Air America to Proceed
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Government contractor CACI International Inc. has won bankruptcy court approval to proceed with its defamation lawsuit against liberal talk radio network Air America and one of its hosts, Randi Rhodes.
A federal bankruptcy court in New York ruled Thursday that the case could proceed despite the fact that Air America has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Under federal law, legal proceedings against a company are frozen when the company declares bankruptcy.
CACI International asked the bankruptcy court in November to allow its case to go forward, arguing that its claims against Air America are covered by an insurance policy and any damages would be paid out of that policy and not from the company's assets.
The company sued Air America and its parent company, Piquant LLC, as well as Rhodes in the fall of 2005 for defamation. The suit stemmed from comments Rhodes made Aug. 25-26, 2005 on her radio show. According to CACI's complaint, she accused CACI employees of raping and murdering Iraqi civilians at Abu Ghraib prison, claims that CACI said were "false and defamatory."
CACI is seeking $1 million in compensatory damages and $10 million in punitive damages. An Air America spokeswoman declined to comment on the lawsuit.
A U.S. District Court dismissed the case, but CACI appealed that ruling. The bankruptcy court's decision allows the appeal to proceed.

Alfred E. Newman with a wig.
BINGO!
The big ears are a dead giveaway.
P.S. -- Not talkin' 'bout YOU, Obama.
I happen to LIKE long hair on "older" women.
You got a PROBLEM wid dat???
I also used to listen to her in Westt Palm, but she is much worse, now. She gets all wound up and starts exaggerating to the point that she loses track of facts, even though she thinks of herself as exceptionally well researched. I got a chance to call her on that once. She was railing against tax cuts Dems had proposed. She is inconsistent philosophically.
She can always become a well paid ivy league professor.

Poor guy. You know he caught it. There was a locksmith in my hometown named Dick Powers. My boss would joke with him, "How do you live up to that?"
Ugly stick, meet face.
For someone with a big mouth, it looks quite small, compared to Alfred E.
I kind of thought she was that way in public or private and she probably has a hard time discerning the shape of things anyway.
No Sir!
To each his own!
or jobs at stations that might just share some liability for her problems.
"Who is your fave now?
I had the identical experience. I also bought Thom Hartman's book, which was drivel."
OMG. Did I seriously write "Huge" instead of Hugh? I wish I could say I did that on purpose. What a dope. I'm series. (that one was on purpose)
My favorite now? Sadly, I've had to mellow out some for reasons I'll not bore you with, though I'm starting to slowly pay attention again. Hugh is brilliant and I've enjoyed a couple of his books. He can be a little much sometimes and I haven't listened in for a while, but he'd probably still by my first choice. I love the way he handles guests, both those that agree and disagree with his position. Basically he just lets them talk. Rarely have I heard people make more complete fools OF THEMSELVES, all by themselves, then on his show while he sits there quietly. They frequent make his case for him with their allowed rants. His gift is to ask the right questions and then cajole the person into answering. I hope he still has "The Smart Guys".
Now you need to be careful how youse talk about Congressman Lewis former Chairman of SNCC the violent Student "Non-violent" Coordinating Committee, who has a special place in history because of his deliberate encounters with the wet end of a water hose and some redneck sheriff's dogs. This is the race hustler who said on the floor of Congress that serving lunch (FREE LUNCH MIND YOU) to school kids at 10:30 AM was child abuse.

The NYS probably ins hiring anyone right now, at least not for money. She is probably mulling a dozen offers from academia, though, a veritable bidding war.
The one time I listened to her, I thought she had a weird version of Tourette's Syndrome.
My computer apparently can't deal with that face. It only gives me the top of her head.
Why would you read or listen to Hartman? He is a putrid hateful liberal.
Lucky you.
