The real Issue at Duke

In the wake of recent bombshell revelations in the Duke University "rape" case, even some of District Attorney Michael Nifong's supporters have started backing away from him.
It was not just that the head of a DNA laboratory testified under oath in December that he and Nifong both knew back in April that there was no DNA from any of the Duke University lacrosse players found on the body of the stripper who accused them of rape -- or even that the DNA of other men were found in her underwear and in intimate areas of her body.
What was really damning was that he and Nifong had agreed to keep this fact secret, despite requirements that exculpatory evidence be turned over to the defense. Moreover, last May District Attorney Nifong filed a statement saying that the prosecution "is not aware of any additional material or information which may be exculpatory in nature."
But he already knew what the DNA evidence was before he signed that statement.

A good assessment of Nifong's agenda in the Duke case by Dr. Sowell.

Nifong should be locked up in a prison cell, NOT the Duke men he persecuted (that's right....persecuted NOT prosecuted). A shameful circus on the part of a politically partisan DA.

"...even some of District Attorney Michael Nifong's supporters have started backing away from him."Backing? No, they're stampeding away from him, tripping over and trampling one another to get away from him. Sure sign that Nifong's in trouble.

If the bar wishes for there to be any credibility remaining in their profession at all, they will disbar Nifong. Now.

Now Nifong faced a tough election against a woman he had once fired and who would undoubtedly fire him if she became District Attorney. It would be real interesting to here from her!

Sowell hit's the nail on the head. Exactly what a lot of us have been saying since the beginning. Nifong should be disbarred. I hope the kids and their parents sue him, the city, the University, the DNA lab and everyone else who jumped on the bandwagon to accuse and discredit these young men. I hope the accuser does time for filing false reports and I hope Nifong is charged criminally. This entire case has been a travesty of justice from start to finish.

Backing? No, they're stampeding away from him, tripping over and trampling Exactly! When WaPo criticizes a lib in an editorial it's got to be bad.

Nifong should be imprisoned for the full term without the possibility of parole for what each of the accused would get if they were to be convicted and the sentences should run consecutively. An animal like Nifong has no business ever seeing the light of day or a public sidewalk ever again.

Nifong should be locked up in a prison cell, NOT the Duke men he persecuted (that's right....persecuted NOT prosecuted). What he did to the Duke players was tantamount to the rape he claimed occurred.

Or, there might be some ethical prohibition, something Mr. Nifong would know nothing about.
