1,500 in Minneapolis protest ouster of Sharia government in Somalia
What are 1,500 supporters of Islamic jihad and Sharia law doing in Minneapolis? What are the implications of this for our own national security? Why is no one with any power or influence even asking these questions?
"Area Somalis want peace for homeland: Many of the 1,500 protesters in Minneapolis were angered that the U.S. gave tacit support for ousting of Islamists," by Liz Fedor in the Star Tribune, with thanks to CGW:
More than a thousand Somalis gathered in Minneapolis on Saturday to call for Ethiopian troops to withdraw immediately from Somalia.
Their protest capped a week in which transitional government troops retook Mogadishu, Somalia's capital, with the backing of Ethiopian infantrymen.
The U.S. government "gave the green light" to Ethiopia to work in concert with the transitional federal government in Somalia, and that action was "totally wrong," said Hassan Mohamud.
He is the president of the Somali Institute for Peace and Justice in Minneapolis, which organized Saturday's rally.
"We ask the president of the United States, Mr. Bush, and his administration to stop supporting the terrorists. Ethiopian troops are terrorists," Mohamud said to a cheering crowd.
Somali men, women and children gathered Saturday morning in Peavey Park in Minneapolis, and they carried an array of signs. Some said "No more war" and "Islam is the solution."
Lt. Rick Thomas of the Minneapolis Police Department estimated the crowd at about 1,500 people for a rally that ran for more than two hours.
Mohamud said he and other Somalis want the United States to support talks that can yield "peace and reconciliation."
Somalia has not had a stable government in 15 years, but many attendees at the rally said that the Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) had brought some peace to the country during the past six months.
When that Islamic group took over the capital in June, many people were optimistic about the future, said Omar Jamal, executive director of the Somali Justice Advocacy Center in Minneapolis.
"They brought back security," Jamal said in a telephone interview. "We were all hoping that the moderates would be able to take the lead in the organization of the UIC. But unfortunately, the radicals hijacked the process."
Don't they always.
Jamal said the large Somali community in Minnesota "is divided," adding that many local Somalis supported the overthrow of the Islamists over the past few days.
Jamal said he attended the rally as an observer....
Sadia Egal, 23, said she had been planning to visit her parents in Somalia in January. But the recent military actions prompted her to postpone the trip. She is fearful that her teenage brothers in Somalia could be killed in revenge slayings. "My dad asked them to stop going to school," she said, so they could stay home and avoid being targets for violence.
Egal, who lives in north Minneapolis, has not returned to Somalia since she left the country with her aunt when she was 12 years old. She works as a parking attendant and interpreter and has been saving her money for six months to pay for her plane ticket.
Abdullahi Hassan, a small-business owner from Eden Prairie, said, "What brought me here [to the rally] is our country is under occupation by foreign forces." He said the United States should support a process that would allow highly educated Somalis to find solutions to stabilize the country and build hospitals and schools that will serve the people.
Tacit U.S. approval
A member of the Somali Institute for Peace and Justice, Abdul Mohamed of Minneapolis, said the military advances last week by Ethiopian troops created "one of the worst moments in Somali history."
Mohamed disagrees with U.S. policy in Somalia, which he said is driven by "Islamophobia."
If anyone in the American government had any courage, they would tackle this head-on, explaining that they opposed the Somali jihadists not only because they had ties to Al-Qaeda, but because Sharia government institutionalizes discrimination against women and religious minorities and denies freedom of conscience, and is in general an outrage to the dignity of the human person. In other words, they would engage the ideological challenge posed by the global jihad by asserting the superiority of the values of the modern West, and of the civilization built on Judeo-Christian values. But they don't dare.
Yes...you're absolutely right about San Diego.
I am in the area.
I also remember the incident that you described at San Diego State. The two Saudi students at SDSU were overheard by another student, an elderly North African man who was incensed that these Saudis would be doing "high fives" over the WTC and Pentagon attacks. The elderly man (who understood Arabic) gave the two Saudi punks a verbal lashing for insulting America.
This incident really outraged me because the elderly man was then sanctioned by the SDSU Administration. It was right after this incident that I cut up my SDSU Alumni card and sent it back cancelling my association with the SDSU Alumni Association.
Keith Ellison, who will be sworn in on the Qu'ran that counsels "killing the infidels wherever you find them", is going to be TROUBLE for us all! And massive Third World immigration is BIG trouble for America!!!!
But our diversity is our strength. Don't you remember? BJ Clinton told us so. </sarcasm
I haven't heard of anyone protesting in Spain yet. And we're over run.
"I really don't know how our government is going to take it when the people have had enough."
If that time comes, they won't be on our side. They aren't now. Who do you think keeps importing more Muslims?

Happy New Year!
"Thanks, cool song...my sons will love it."
LOL, not my genre of music but I love the lyrics...and it is a catchy tune. It's called Nu-Metal...heavy metal with a slight twist of rap. It's the strong anti-jihadi theme that hooks me though.
I have more faith in the American people than the American government btw.
San Diego has absorbed many ethnic groups. Mexicans by the hundreds of thousands. A huge Southeast Asian community: Cambodian, Vietnamese, Thai, etc. We also have Chaldeans, and like other American cities: Chinese, Japanese, Indians both from India and the local reservations, Italians, Russians, and religious diversity with Mormons (a huge beautiful new Temple), Catholics, Protestants of every kind, Jews (Reformed, Orthodox and Conservative). etc. Just check the restaurants that have opened - LOL.
None of these communities have posed a physical threat to city and nation.
The mosque in my neighborhood sheltered the two who flew into the Pentagon.
I do too . Have a Happy safe New Year! ~~Pandora~~
I know and thats the part that is most upsetting. Have a Happy safe New Year ~~Pandora~~
Your map of the US is very eye opening... has anyone thought that maybe the antichrist will rise up out of the muslim religion? look how much of the u.s. it has infiltrated. also, what is the fastest growing religion in our prison system (all those convicts getting religion)? islam... maybe we need to look into that also. has anyone even considered how many of them have even infiltrated our military????? don't get me wrong... I LOVE OUR TROOPS and support them in many ways, and have 2 sons serving... but how can you serve a religious belief that is everything opposite of the military and country you serve... where is your allegiance/faith? A true muslim wouldn't be looking out for the best interest of the U.S. or that fellow soldier/marine/airman/sailor beside him/her... not if his allah calls for something else.
I know some people who are very nice to me and my husband... they are so kind. However, they follow islam, so my husband and I aren't really sure of where their allegience lays. If it comes right down to it... will they be so kind then?
Thoughts to ponder!
Did you ever think you were convincing some one to your point of view when suddenly something you said triggers a response that reveals you're talking to a person with the wet brain of a street person? I imagine that there are a lot of those moments when you're talking to any "highly educated" mooselimb.
Actually, I have heard quite a few more Mosque's have moved in across the US since this map was published.
From what I hear, they are a very patient people. They are in our military and now we have them in our government as Representatives............yes......thoughts to ponder for 2007. That's for sure.....
I know we have some areas with large cocentrations of muslims in this country but does anyone have a breakdown of sunni and sheite communities here in the US? That could be an interesting development.
In Illinois, the senators are Turban and Obama, both radical abominations who fill the seats of great historical senators who came before them.
So here we have two major states where their senators represent only the radical minority in immigration/amnesty issues.
I read somewhere on FR that immigrations quotas have actually been RAISED for Islamic countries.
What are people to do short of taking to the streets? They have little to no voice any more except on the internet, perhaps. The media is closed to them and the politicians pay no heed.
We've been trained since birth to take our rage and frustrations peacefully to the polling places.....and the politicians who are destroying our country are well aware of this. We are like lambs being herded to the slaughter.
The money/benefits/power-hungry pols are also enabled by the fact that most of the populace is apathetic, ignorant, ill-informed, lazy and hedonistic (let the good times roll while they may) and content to let the government take control of their lives.

Way to go, RNC....
