[history]
President Bush's legacy is sure to be defined by his wielding of U.S. military power in Afghanistan and Iraq, but there is another, much softer and less-noticed effort by his administration in foreign affairs: a dramatic increase in U.S. aid to Africa.

The compassion exhibited by this President overwhelms...

But we can still be conservative and give some assistance. Obviously. Conservatives are the most charitable of people, in fact. But they're charitable with their own money, not the taxpayers'.

The medicine needs to be taken at specific times during the day- most of these folks do not own a wristwatch. The medicines will be sold on the black market and the money will be used for alcohol and prostitution.
BTW:There are people in the USA that can't afford life sustaining AIDS medication- give it to them first.

but I also feel we can help poor people of other nations There's the problem. You're basing a nationa strategy on feelings. Think.
Africa's poor can go hang until we take care of North America.

keeping the U.N. at arms length to some degree doesn't qualify as defending our rights?
His daughters are EMPLOYED by the UN!! His WIFE works for UNICEF causes!!

Letting tax payers keep more of their own money?
Wha? Our tax money is going out of the country at a record rate to support the globalist cause.

Battling for private Social Security accounts?
'private' social security accounts he 'battled for',were merely a giveaway to the securities industry, just like HIPPA was a giveaway of citizen rights to the insurance industry. The sole reason for the existence of that policy was to pick favorites and guarantee those securities companies a fascistic relationship with government and guaranteed income for THEM!

Signing the bill with that places restrictions on eminent domain?
What a deliberate misstatement!!!
That 'bill' was a guarantee that foreign countries could benefit from the use of eminent domain in this country on American citizens. NO ONE who believes in private property rights can agree with that EO. It is a TRAVESTY on our rights!

"I'm resisting the urge to say "I'm done voting, period", but frankly, I don't know how long I'll be able to maintain the illusion that our votes make any difference."Many of my conservative friends feel the same way. And so do I.
Even if the GOP manages to quickly effect a major course change, it may well be too late. From what I observe, they still haven't gotten the message of the midterm election.

"Bush has set the conservative/libertarian movement back 30 years."I don't know if it's that bad, but it's sure as hell bad enough.

The narrow minded types who want their $30 back haven't got a clue. When did this place become DU? Steal my money to spend on your pet causes and then scoff in disdain from your ivory tower when the people going to work to pay for it complain.

POTUS does what he thinks is rightTell you what. Let him keep doing what 'he thinks is right'. Just quit using my damn tax dollars for it. But vote Republican!!! They're the 'conservatives'. What a joke.
Until they discover that they will not understand his true stature and ultimate power in foreign affairs
No comment on the grounds I can't say anything nice so I won't say anything at all.

First, insert the word "you" between because and lost that will make the sentence correct. Second, I don't give a damn about the people in Africa. Let the African Americans take care of them. Wow. You're messed up.

Conservative christian "generosity" includes giving to one's church, where one receives benefit. How much of the money that we give actually goes to the poor?
Frankly, when pay our "tithe" at our church, I choke a bit when I realize how very little will be used on the poor.
God has something to say about how we treat the poor, and I don't think he was just speaking about individuals.

He's always been s sucker for a hard-luck story -- as long as he's able to reach into the next guy's pocket to fish out the checkbook!Sad, but true. What's sadder is that this is true of about 90% of our politicians.
