Government needs to get out of the charity business. Americans themselves are compassionate and have given millions of dollars to charity. Let private charities tackle the African AIDS problem, not the government.
We can carefully and intelligently give foreign aid.
Horse manure. The US gives billions of dollars to craphole, communist countries that don't deserve it. The bulk of foreign aid dollars always go to the corrupt governments who prop up their militaries rather than going for food and necessities for the people.
Uncaring people give conservatives a bad name.
Typical liberal statement. Like I said, American people are a generous people. There's simply no need for government foreign aid. None at all.
Deep down they approve, because they don't want to get wiped off the map.
You're exactly what the Republican party has become. Talks like the Democrats, votes like the Democrats, loses elections like the Democrats. Bravo.

Hey Buddy, I do plenty for charities. I contribute at least $100 a month on various charities throughout the world not to mention tithes to my church. And that is a lot on my fixed income.
How much do you contribute to charities? Not one red cent, I suspect!
No it doesn't. And it's actually what we should do. But foreign aid, all foreign aid, is wasteful and does not reach the intended subjects many times (not to mention not intended by the Framers). I have no problem with donating my money freely to help those in need in whatever nation, regardless of color, creed, sex, etc. However tax dollars should be spent in only a few ways. Running the government and national defense. That was how it was intended to be.
Yeah. Right. Sure you donate. - rolls eyes - But let's run with your fantasy. Does anyone put a gun to your head and demand that you give? See, where I'm from, when someone does that its called "THEFT." Nothing noble or christian about it.
As for being on a "fixed income," no wonder you're a fan of the govt giving away free goodies. You're a reciepient! Tell me, what's it like knowing your essentially stealing from young working families?
Are Saddam and the Taliban still in power? Those are the enemies we've defeated. Maybe you slept through that.
What about the tax dollars people have kept due to Bush's tax cuts?
