Then he appeared to agree to let one of his executioners tie a black scarf around his neck. The Times reported that his guards explained the rope could cut off his head, and offered to protect his neck with the scarf.

In the televised video, Saddam stood stoically as the noose was slipped over his head. The noose was tightened. Then the Iraqi TV footage ended.

But the camera phone video, broadcast in part on Al-Jazeera and aired in full on Arabic-language Web sites, continued.

There is plenty of information if you search for it on the science of hanging. The loop of the hanging noose merely acts as the fulcrum, and when the body reaches the end of the drop, the noose tightens--yes, but it causes the large heavy knot to very rapidly slap the side of the head causing the spinal cord to separate, the theory being, instant death.

Exactly. They know very well how to take advantage of our anti American leftist media and the entire left for that matter. They gave him enough slack in the rope and used a large hangmans knot. In this picture you can tell that they almost ripped his head off (notice the blood on the back of his neck).

That large hangmans knot slams hard against the head causing his head to slam backwards and to the right while at the same time the rope tightens around his neck due to the free fall and his weight.

He was dead before 3 minutes had passed.
