I noticed Saddam didn't have a smile on his face, as he had earlier promised.

"Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God."
This motto was on many of the original battle flags of the American Revolution.

And that scenario reminds me of Jerzy Kozinski's book Being There. The movie version with the late Peter Sellers was pretty good too...
Cheers!

historically, executioners were hooded. Blindfolds were optional for the condemned.

CNN, ABC, NBC, etc., feel "robbed" of a long, drawn out, pre-execution period, something they could use to beat up on W with.
But now they've quickly recovered with a new template, one about how Saddam is more dangerous to America dead than alive.

Wow! It looks like he put on a couple of pounds from these two pictures. I thought he was on a hunger strike. His face looks rounder, but maybe its the poor filming and lighting. Must have had a few good meals at the end. Didn't you hear? He followed the "Cindy Sheehan" rules for a hunger strike /sarc>
Cheers!

now CNN newsreaders telling me that the execution of the dictator was flawed, "too rushed". Liberal Lemmings: "We rushed to judgment, just like Bushalliburton rushed to war! We should have given sanctions a chance!"
Kofi Annan: Yes! More OilForFood!TM
Cheers!

CNN has just been pathetic throught the whole ordeal...... since 9/11. CNN coverage was excellent last night, much better than the amateurish FoxNews. Cooper kept the superb Iraqi vice-UN rep on for hours and he was outstanding.

I can't bear to watch cnn, but I forced myself to watch a couple of hours ago. That prissy Anderson Cooper just floored me with his stipid questions. I had to switch back to FNC. I disagree, Cooper with the Iraqi UN guy was superb last night. The guy reminds me of Netanyahu, perfect English and pro-American. Also revealed many facts no one else mentioned about the sheer volume of Saddam's atrocities.

That's Chance you're talking about. ;-)
Peter Sellers was a great actor, and the movie was fun, but I really enjoyed the book.

In that the central part of this story is about Saddam's NECK....it is only appropriate that it is....
"BREAKING NEWS"!!
"BREAKING NOOSE"!!

It was disappointing hearing later that Jerzy Kozinski and Roman Polanski were best of friends.

I saw, maybe on the Historty Channel, a bio of Saddam and it said that he committed his first murder when he was ten years old.
Doesn't sound like dad was all to blame.

Can't really make that out.

Two points here:
1. I had to explain this to my 8 year old son...and he "gets it".
2. Is it possible that this is the tipping point where Iraqis may finally "get it" also and starts taking control of their future? (stranger things have happened)
